Willie Mays, and Pete Rose were heroes when I was growing up. I got to see Mays play at Shea stadium in 1973. RIP

Carroll Dawson was also at one time in the late-1970’s = MEN’s HEAD BASKETBALL COACH AT BAYLOR UNIVERSITY in WACO, TX. He coached “THE MICROWAVE”= VINNIE JOHNSON, and recruited another future NBA’er- TERRY TEAGLE…although, TEAGLE never played for DAWSON, the latter was fired the year before TEAGLE made his debut. Both VJ AND TEAGLE turned BU hoops around. Dawson did, too, but never got the public’s credit on that. Another head coach at BAYLOR did= JIM HALLER.
