Have you tried openCV? I’ve been using it recently for custom object detection. I’ve been using it with Python, but it supports C++ (as it’s literally written using c++)

Yeah you can do with this yolov8 to even detect humans, dogs, cats, etc. Then after detection, you may need to have some knowledge about electrical components to cater the turning on the light requirement...
