Becoming an alchemy master was when i first truly learned to love Oblivion. HP sponges? Gone. Healing? As good as restoration. And it makes you admire the scenery, you learn what plants grow where, it makes you appreciate the world a little more. Now i am almost always a flower-picking alchemist, even in Morrowind or Skyrim.

That's one thing I love about Oblivion - the varied nature while exploring. So many different plants, and farms if you want to be efficient.

The best thing about oblivions alchemy is that you basically have a spell in a bottle Skyrim you dont really have that h.o.t or much dot potions available and its all just burst damage.

When I rebought oblivion and played it for the first time on my pc since I was a kid, I really wanted to make a cool mage. I went the atronach route and really love how it changes the dynamic of the game. Requiring alchemy was super fun as i hadn't used it much before. The money was so so good, the trips were satisfying knowing you have all the money youll ever need while also adding a huge amount of supplies to my backpack.

I really appreciate the nuance that oblivion and morrowind took with a lot of skills. you do not need to understand any of the mechanics this well to be successful, but it is so rewarding to study them like a wizard in a library and optimize them to become super powerful. I really hope es6 brings this back, but I fear oblivion was peak elder scrolls.

I remember making potions like Shield + Fire Shield, so i can get tanky when i want. Also rez+ele shield of same type. I also made some Fortify Magic + Fortify Intellect pots called BIG BRAIN Potion , and they always had a damage attribute effect on them due to the ingredients, so i had to keep Restore Attribure pot of that type on me too after i drank a few hehe. Strong potions always have bad side effects too, so you gotta deal with that. Its a nice RPG element for me. I love Alchemy

oblivion is definitely my favorite elder scrolls game but one thing i think skyrim did better is tying XP gain from potions to the value of the potion created
@IAreSmeegoo7 күн бұрын
I think alchemy has by far the most utility for any character so long as you have the patience to collect and learn what ingredients will be useful for your character. I make a point to level it on every character because once you get to mastery level its just free infinite health/mana/stamina potions at the very least.

I think you are missing two big ingredients for a fortify magicka potion. Columbine Root Pulp, from 'columbine' and Water Hyacinth Nectar, from 'Water hyacinth' Combining these two gives you a fortify magicka potion. + If you add Flax seeds, from 'Flax'. You get a potion which fortifies magicka and restores magicka. You can add a shield effect in addition. Tomato/potato = Shield Fire salt = Frost shield

Oblivion logic: Be a literal god crafting a sword: 25 damage + 22 fire damage. Have to attack about 20 times to kill a town guard. Be a guy with 80 alchemy and a journeyman pestle and some berries: 5 damage for 20 seconds 6 fire damage for 24 seconds 6 shock damage for 24 seconds. Hit once and kill any human on earth.

I'm curious how differently the exp scaling looks with training as more than any other skill alchemy can both easily fund even its master training and easily control when you level. If my napkin math off the chart is right training 95-100 alone is responsible for almost 250 potions which is a huge difference. Granted even 900-1200 potions doesn't feel that bad when the money printer goes brrrr. Loving these deep dives!

I've seen a lot of KZbinrs make the false claim that nothing in Oblivion tells you what the apparatuses do. There's an in game book that explains what they do. I think it's called Fundamentals of Alchemy if I'm remembering the right book.

Loving your content! In one of your other videos, you said that Agility is just a bad stat and don’t raise it. I’m playing a paladin style build and am up around level 15 or so and am starting to feel like I’m getting staggered with about 50% of the hits I take. Would putting some points into agility actually help this or would it just lower my damage?
@theoldknight8519 күн бұрын
Maybe. I would try getting 85 armor, increasing your health, and using fortify/restore fatigue potions and spells first. Armor makes a really really big difference. If you have 85 armor and over 100% fatigue and you are still constantly getting staggered, then try agility
@MagnetSphere-kc3gm19 күн бұрын
how did you learn this stuff without reading, impressive
@pattozebass97677 күн бұрын
It would be good if your chance to collect ingredients scaled with your alchemy skill. It doesn't make sense for an alchemy master would flub picking a mushroom. Perhaps this was a design feature as alchemy is OP. im sure there are mods that address this, but alas, im mainly confined to the PS3 edition

@@EA_SP0RTCENTERTbh between all modern Fallout and Elder Scrolls games New Vegas was the first one to make stealth archer (or sniper in this case) overpowered.
