I knew I was in for some shit the minute they referred to their special forces teams as "being black ops" A "black operation" or "black op" is the term for a military operation that isn't meant to b publicized. It's a secret that can never get out for political reasons, if anything goes wrong the government denies that you exist and you're basically on your own. This is why Mason was never rescued from Vorkuta, you were buried the minute you jumped off that plane. In short, a "black op" is a kind of operation and not an organization of task force, but this is COD where nothing is done correctly or logically so I dunno what I was expecting.
@WK-472 жыл бұрын
Yeah, like everyone in every military and government was replaced by a literal bad actor and left with all their resources to pretend to do the person's job and then end up in the most amazing, ridiculous situations. Pretty much avant-garde art like he said. It's hyper-real or something. Weird stuff.

@redeye45162 жыл бұрын
+Immolator772 I think you've missed my point. A black op is a type of operation, not a group. The game is calling your character and their group "black ops" as if it's a unit designation, which it's not. For example, let's say that we're playing a game series called "Electrical Fires" where you play as a firefighter unit specially trained in putting out electrical fires. In Electrical Fires 3, your character is put into a group and they tell them that they're an electrical fire now. Do you see what I mean now?

Apparently this wasn't even meant to be a Black Ops game, but because Black Ops is the best selling of the CoD sub-franchises Activision forced them into changing it. That along with an early version of the campaign getting scrapped lead to the story being so poorly told. It has cool elements but you have to slow down all of scrolling text at the start of each mission and read it to understand the story's plot twist that's never explained otherwise, and without knowing the plot twist you can't notice a lot of the little details that foreshadow it. It's like they finally figured out how they would fit all of the themes together in a story but didn't have time to execute it properly, so they just left the largest plot point hidden in some fucking text you can't realistically be expected to read.

The actual base concept is tied to it, actually. The entire reason the world is in that state is because aircraft and drones became pointless, since Menendez' fuckery with drones led to countries MAJORLY improving their air security. So all the wars are on foot and that's why there's cyborg soldiers. So it's kind of like showing the after effects of BO2. That said, the game does fuck all to explain this as you play it and it's such a huge waste of a neat concept.

the saddest thing is that barely anybody understood what the game was about and how it all made sense. I literally had to watch videos back in the day explaining it and while I did understand it, I also understood that they did a poor job bringing it across. From what I understand it goes like this: When the robot rips your arms off and breaks your legs you actually died. They tried to save your life by turning you into a cyborg and having Taylor help your brain get used to it by linking his to yours. It's later explained that when you jack into the other characters shortly before they die their last moments get connected to your memories, i.e. they can live through them. And that is what's happening to you. You're living through Taylor's Memories as your last moments. That also explains why your character is confused, not knowing how they got to the next place or what day/year it is. I think it's a cool Idea for a story, it was just very poorly executed.

AI gains sentience, murders scientists who made it, calls itself Corvus and begins infecting soldiers that link to it (through Taylor who linked with it first). Slowly develops sapience as it passes from soldier to soldier which drives Hendricks insane. It attains full sapience in PC's brain and after the PC kills themselves, Corvus takes over and calls itself Taylor after the soldier who (inadvertently) freed it. Made sense to me.
@danielo91412 жыл бұрын
The 'technology' that mother gives you allowed soldiers to live on after death, which is essentially the save function in any shootem up. This is why the ceo stand-in npc cannot explain who you are as they have not achieved CHIM. This exec character then gets a gruesome double death punishment for their story crimes, but not before your character is overwhelmed by the revelation of CHIM and commits harrycarry. The true villain 'ai' is therefore a metaphor for the player who fulfils the supply demand transactions of the AAA Industrial games complex. And also drives this player character towards their doom, shame on you! It is also a backhanded insult to the player, delivered via a pithy plot with tropey twists that you presumably have paid for. The secret mastermind behind the AI really just wishes you'd play with their lootbox casinos, season pass timeshares and buy the skins/nfts indefinitely so they have to do less animations, voice acting and no writing for a campaign mode. So the corporate avatar was still the realreal villain, but he couldn't understand why. Or something. White rabbitttttt

@@porkcracklins630 The scrolling text at the start of each mission are mission debriefs from Taylor. That along with a lot of subtle hints reveals that your character dies during the tutorial mission and you're reliving Taylor's memories through your DNI that's linked to his during that training simulation. There's actually a load of really cool foreshadowing that hints at the plot twist, like Taylor talking about Kane in the first mission, Kane's bandanna not being on her during moments that didn't really happen that the protagonist's mind is making up, and the frozen forest poem really being something recited to you by a doctor to calm you as you die, but all of it is sort of purposeless when you can't understand these details without knowing the plot twist which is never actually explained in-game.

The "Reznov is dead" twist from the original Black Ops was great because you could actually connect the dots and figure it out yourself. You replay the campaign and start to pick up on clues, like how no one but Alex ever talks to or mentions Reznov. BO3's "you were dead the whole time" just comes out of nowhere. It had no buildup, no foreshadowing, and it doesn't really explain anything.

@mariano98ify2 жыл бұрын
@@LuvzToLol21 well, it had foreshadowing, only that I don't remember as it was... The Reznov twist really have some plot holes, like the years that Mason spent in Vietnam after he "rescue" Reznov, why he didn't interact with him between missions? Did he not speak with him and show explain him to his squad saying something like: "look boys he is the famous Reznov I was speaking about who saved me in Vorkuta" and his squad be like "with who the hell are you speaking you about, Mason?"
@Winasaurus2 жыл бұрын
@@LuvzToLol21 It kind of had a buildup but it's not one you'd really understand until a second playthrough. In the 2nd mission, where you're getting used to your new abilities in a simulated fight, this is happening while you are undergoing the surgery to get all your cyber buffs. You die mid-operation, and it's at the point where they state that "The simulation breaks down here, but we can go ahead", and you go on the chase with the woman. The implication being that the simulation broke down because you died and had stopped being fed information, but the DNI creates a reality for you. But the issue is that's only real foreshadowing if you know the simulation is perfect usually, so it breaking down would mean something. For all we know the simulations break down all the time so it's nothing to be worried about. It tries to make it a lot more blatant later, with obvious hallucinations and stuff, but that's just as easily explained by the DNI being imperfect. It's really hard to make a hallucination plot make sense when you also introduce ACTUAL hallucination creating technology. It's like trying to have a strong death scene in a show where it's established people can fake death or resurrect easily. Makes it really hard to actually know or care if it's a real death or not.

Use camo cyber ability, all primary attachment wildcards, use the Drakon with thermal sights, FMJ, Suppressor, Rapid Fire, Extended Mags, Fast Mags. Secondary war machine (for ASP tanks or mobs), EMP grenades, any lethals, Emergency Reserve and Repulsor Armor tac-rigs. Abuse your special cyber vision to see and shoot enemies through walls with FMJ. Abuse thermals to shoot people's ankles and shoulders while they are in cover. If you're level 20 (you should be), you can switch to the remote control hack ability and use that to clear out entire rooms of enemies with talons, sentry guns, or the little rocket tanks. Use loadout crates to refresh your Emergency Reserve after going down. The hardest mission in the game is going to be either the first one because you don't have the special vision yet and the last holdout can be a bitch, or the one where you swim underwater forever and die to a glancing blow from the depth charges. If you're having trouble with the flying drone boss with the 4 engines, know you can snipe the engines through gaps in the roof with your sniper. Takes a mag but it kills the engine, you don't need explosives. And the mission where you have to run out into the firing line and plant the explosive spikes looks scarier than it actually is. The enemies infinitely respawn so just clear a couple, camo, sprint the spot and plant the spike, back away and blow it to cover the retreat, then lay in cover till camo comes back. During the holdout after the jet flying set piece, learn the spawns and abuse camo to shoot enemies without them firing back. You don't need to kill them all, just enough that the hack goes through and gets you a checkpoint. Warlords (tanky robots that hipfire LMGs and walk at you) are pretty easy to melt with headshots. I imagine EMP or any control hacks work well too. I just platinumed it the other day because I apparently got it free on PS5.

"Robot Beats your guy to beat, the end." The funny thing is: That's the actual plot of Black Ops 3. No seriously.

Ah yes, the campaign that was so convoluted you needed to read the tie in graphic novel to make any sense of it.

And then they made Infinite Warfare, which got so much hate because of the multiplayer that it scared Activation from ever making a good campaign.

I played the campaign and the only things i remember are that i didn't understand the end cutscene,that the part with the zombies was the least boring part and that some enemies did have way to many HP.
