Thank you so much for explaining this. I have been searching for this solution for over a year. As a pastor who has had to learn all things audio for live streaming, I've had a lot of frustration with getting audio to sound good in our space on the live stream. This helped so much!

Thanks for the video! What are good compression and limiter settings for a live stream of a worship service. So we can boost the volume but not squash the sound.

Hey Tim, glad you enjoyed the video. what does your audio setup look like ? Are you using OBS ? Do you use a digital console or analog ?
@timjohnson30603 жыл бұрын
@@LiveProductionTips yes using obs through a presonus ai32 stereo aux mix to usb audio interface. Right now we use obs limiter. I want to get more volume but not make the audio sound weird or compressed where you lose bass or definition.
@LiveProductionTips3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, I think in your situation you can use the compressor from the sound mixer first, get your signal to around between (-6 and -3) when it reaches OBS. in OBS you add a gentle compression to boost any low signal and push down any super loud signals . Try add a limiter as well around (-3) and see what you get. I would make sure I get a very good signal from the source ( sound mixer) and use the OBS compression and Limiter for small final tweaks. There is no formula to getting it perfect. Try and fail , keep testing, try again until you like the sound. Let me know if this helps. Feel free to reach out to any time

It’s better to mix and do the compression on an external mixer and a bring audio in OBS already done

Such a nice and detailed video indeed :) - should I use the Noise Suppression on top of the Noise Gate to eliminate my dog barking sounds outside the room?,
@LiveProductionTips3 ай бұрын
@@FoxmodeGaming I would start with noise gate, too many stacked effects may ruin the quality of your audio
@FoxmodeGaming3 ай бұрын
@@LiveProductionTips If I use only Noise gate I still hear the background noises but when I use only Noise Suppression, they are gone! So I am using Noise Suppression, Compression, Limiter as of now and looks okaish. What should be the order of their placement? is the order how they are placed affects too? I am using Compressor first then Limiter and lastly Noise Suppression.

Hi, id like to ask for some help. This is what's going on with me. When I record a game for some reason, in some parts of the recording, my voice gets so low that you can't hear it and just disappear What could it be??? Any advise ?? I have several filters on obs
@LiveProductionTips Жыл бұрын
Could be the filters you are using. That sounds like an Auto Volume/ auto level filter you might be using.

i got gain, compressor, expander, noise suppresion limiter. should i remove the limiter?
@LiveProductionTips Жыл бұрын
@@RicoZuabe I think you might have too many filters. I am guessing depending on how you setup some they are reacting to your levels and at some point they are compressing your voice. Start by adding one by one and test which one is causing issues
