Matt's a good dude, raced with him myself. But it's a 600hp fuel truck, he's done over 1000 many times but with bottles of nitrous down its throat. If you don't mind nitrous, you can do it.

Some people make good points about how this isn’t going to just happen, but even if it isn’t some 1,000hp 7.3l, I’d love to see your work pace the way to some nice aftermarket bolt on kits for compounds on these trucks.

If you are still messing with the truck and working things out I would suggest looking up ultra diesel performance. Trevor makes compound setups for these 7.3’s and the quality of his products are through the roof. I would also suggest putting some ladder/trac bars on it because of all the axle wrap especially with having some much power. Keep going though I think it’s coming out awesome!

So realistically you’ve got about 500-600 hp. I’ve got a 1996 7.3 built motor/trans with 350/300 Full Force injectors and a s475 turbo and it makes 750-800 hp. A 1,000 hp 7.3 is definitely possible but you’re about halfway there. Sweet build either way!

Diesel power source VGT turbo will make her light those tires right up off the line. Absolutely necessary with a big turbo being driven on the street. Should gain you about 100 horsepower across the board. You’re probably dealing with 650 wheel right now so 750 wheel would be a huge increase. Highly recommend talking to the folks over at Diesel Power Source about your build!

That truck isn't 1000hp and will never get there fuel only. I personally own a compound turbo 7.3 on 400/200 injectors and can promise you that even the big guys running 450/400s can't hit the 1000hp fuel only number. Big injectors and lots of nitrous and you can hit 1100-1200hp but you will never see 1000hp fuel only. Also in your previous video I seen you were running an s369 which caps out around 700hp on these trucks, nor did I see a gen 3 or full force dual hpop so there's no way you're running injectors big enough to hit 1000hp

@@ShelbyExotics Your definitely on the right track! If you haven’t got ported heads and modified them to run exhaust valves throughout your missing out on some relatively easy horsepower for the level your at. I assume you’ve got a custom ground cam as well. If not definitely look into it and yes compounds are the way to go. My build is a lot more mild but I’m getting it sorted slowly. I’ve got 250cc-200% CNC stage 2 hpop, KC66 with a s475 as my atmospheric and it spools very well and stays cool. Goals are really only 600-700 with mine but I want to be able to use it like the truck came from the factory that way. Hope to see you hit 1k fuel only but I sort of doubt it’s going to happen with stock style heads and huei system. Definitely can be done with nitrous but getting enough air through the shitty port design of the 7.3 is probably going to put you into the neighborhood of 100 psi or better boost pressure wise. Boost that high just means tons of hot air and lots of drive pressure to pump it.

You can set your goals as high as you'd like little buddy but until you genuinely understand why heui is so limited and how diesels make power then you'll never make your goal. There are very very few trucks over 800hp on fuel and about 2 that make 1000plus on fuel.

In 20 years when you've spent a ridiculously amount of money when it could be done in other ways? I commend you for setting such a goal but I don't get the vibe you understand what needs to be done to do that.

When one of the top shops from back in the 7.3L hey day (10 years ago now) goes to other injection systems for more power then you know HEUI's limit is 800hp or less at the wheel on fuel only. I've seen all the developments that got tested and didn't work. Going to common rail or mechanical is the way for 4 digit HP on fuel only kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4mVY6iun7GJbdU

@@ShelbyExotics You seem to be confusing reality with aspiration. One can never quit at trying to achieve the impossible... but they will still die unsuccessful. The weird thing is that there's multiple people with decades of combined experience telling you the facts, yet you disregard what they're saying and think it simply comes down to an individual's diligence, and not the limitations of the 7.3. Honestly, you seem new to the diesel game. Do yourself a favor; take a look at all the fuel-only street trucks making 1000+hp and check their builds. You're going to find out that there aren't very many 7.3s out there, and it's for good reason. You've got a lot to learn.

Take a look at the comment above. Hard and good facts stated. If you'd like to achieve 1000hp I can tell you a recipe that works, I've done 1800hp on my obs ford but not with a 7.3. Mathematically it should be impossible, like I said you have to genuinely understand how and why a 7.3 injector works, fluid dynamics, flow rates and injection pressure at nozzle. All of which do not yield the injection pressure or rate needed for the fuel only numbers you desire. But if you'd like to spend a tremendous amount of time and money and it must be done, contact grays diesel or pierces diesel performance. The only 2 cats 1000hp allegedly fuel only.
