OBS/GMT400 Center Console Upgade/retrofit (GMC Yukon)

This video shows how to upgrade your old crappy OBS 1995 to 2000 center console to a newer center console from a 99-2003 Tahoe

To clean your seatbelts, extend them out as far as you can, pull to outside of truck and close the door. Soak with orange 🍊 degreaser from Walmart auto department (personnel preference) for a few minutes then power wash them with them resting along your clean car. You will be amazed how the grime just washes away. Let them dry in the sun for a day outside the truck leaving exactly in the same position you used to spray them. If you want to speed up dry time use a beach towel to wipe each one down. I thought I was going to need to replace mine because nothing would clean the grime off inside the vehicle. The pressure washing left them almost as good as new.

So, I’m doing the same upgrade to my Tahoe and I used a jigsaw to trim the front of the console and that made it fit to the floor much better. I also need to get the metal base for the new console as I don’t have that. Great video

I am currently in the process of doing this exact mod. I got lucky and found the console with the plate in front. Can you elaborate a bit more on how you made the bracket that secures the rear bolts.

Slot the front holes to scoot it over? I’m putting one in my 99 k3500 that’s what I’m gonna do so I can get the exact spot I want.

Are the door panels from an escalade? Or did u add the leather and wood pieces to the original door panel?

So i ended up going with the denali console after all,but i was hoping you can help me out. So im assuming you swapd denali seats in your truck. Is the wiring pretty much just match the wires up? Im planning to depin and repin accordingly. Edit; nevermind the plugs are the same exept there is no brown wire on the truck side. More then likely that is for the heated part of the seat. Im sure it will be simple,just one wire😊

Jose Contreras since my Yukon is a 1995 and no power all my plugs are not the same. I cut the body harness plugs off the Escalade and just wired in and made jumper wires as needs to provide power

@@redstar0884 i got lucky,and after experimenting i got it done. My driver side was plug and play,but my passenger side i managed to depin the the wires i needed off the seat,pined it into the old seat plug for a plug and play. I dont have the heated seats working but i live in socal so its not needed.

You can use the console out of the 99-00 yukon denali and Escalade..

Dale Hall you can but they don’t have floor shifter in that year since they went electronic 4x4 shifter on the dash in those years. So you would have to cut and modify. For me this would have required more work and I prefer the cup holders in the NBS years!

@@redstar0884 99-00 consoles have 2 cupholders in front and 2 in the rear..not too much modifications then Doing the later nbs..

Dale Hall yes they do however the ones I found at the yards went all the way to the dash and would interfere with floor shifter on my Yukon due to the year not having electronics 4 x 4 and they are still narrower than the NBS. So there is still a large gap on the sides from the seats.

Okc HL I think it is possible but would be a lot of work. None of this email holes lineup in the shape of the floor is completely different from the NBS trucks to the OBS. That’s why I just went with the Escalade seats in mine. The ones. In this video are the 522 color code and they are almost the same as the newer Tan seats without the seat belts.

Okc HL the 99-00 Escalade and Yukon Denali seats are a nice upgrade. I like the Escalade seats a little more because the headrest look the same as the NSB

I've been looking for that exact center console part. But I am having trouble finding that specific configuration. What vehicle and year did it come off of?

This was from a Tahoe 99-2001. It’s just hard to find the one that don’t connect to the dash. I think they are mostly 2 piece but finding the one without the front part is hard. That is the only way you get the filler cover on the front. 2003-2006 is a one piece center console

I noticed you have a small plate covering the front part of the console by the cupholders. I was removing the same console today and noticed that big gap. Maybe there are 2 versions of this console?

Jose Contreras yes there is a year that don’t have the front portion of the console that connects to the dash and comes with that cover factory. It’s hard to find but I think it’s 2002

It does look way better. Fills the gaps on the side if the seats better too. You just have to keep it a bit tighter to the driver side so the lid will open. Better cup holders and storage.
