In This video we continue are progress on our obs Silverado interior by removing the Dash and Steering Column. The dashes in these trucks are known to crack and look terrible. This one is no different. I am going to attempt to fix the dash and also change the color. I also want to change the steering wheel and fix a few issues on the column. If you are looking to remove the dash out of your 88-98 or 95-98 obs silverado sierra or tahoe this video should help you get it out. I am hoping to make this interior look like new again. I wish you could do a video showing how to fix the power seat on an OBS truck. This is probably the #1 question for all OBS models. There is nothing out there to help outside a junkyard swap.

We got a 1998 dash i had to do some repair to as well. It had the typical cracks i had to grind out, put some fiberglass resin and smooth it out. The worst part i had to fix was where the vent s are on top where them 3 recessed areas for the screws go in. The dash vent ribbed areas i just cut them out and fiber glassed and resined some metal supports to strengthen the dash itself. Sucks that these dashes are like handling fine china.

There is way to remove the e-brake cable from the trim piece, but you have to grab from the backside and twist it in order for it to release. It is definitely a bit finicky, so your method was probably safer in the long run. Also, when you were removing the two linkages from the steering column, on the left side of course is your shift linkage, on the right is the shift interlock solenoid, so it keeps from shifting out of gear unless the brake is pushed.

I am having the same dilemma on my own OBS Chevy. My dashboard is cracked worse than you could imagine, and I do have a replacement, but that one is already cracked in some places. It's frustrating doing all the work and still not having a perfect dash...debating on what to do. On another note, I reached out to LMC to inquire as to if they have plans to produce and sell reproduction dashes for 95-98+ OBS Chevys. I expressed the desire on behalf of other enthusiasts and mentioned that they would definitely sell, and this was the response from today: "Thank you for the email. This is already in the works, it’s just a timely, costly process. We’d suggest checking back middle of next year and make sure to keep up online and in the updated catalogs."

I painted mine black. Was a hell of a job trying to be careful as I could. It came out nice but it was nerve wracking and tedious. I don’t think I would do it again. I would go sheet metal and custom figure out guages or FItech screen or something. Nothing wrong with factory but I’m a custom goon.
