Excellent portrayal. Was there in 1968. The stadium affected me, though not following the Lord as a USAF serviceman. I knew the Biblical account of Paul in the city was true. I also saw the site of the Temple of Diana, the silted up and swampy harbor, and the miles off the glittering Aegean Sea. It all came to life, the Bible scenes. The Bible could not be denied. Someone, a Turk, handed me a ripe fig from a large tree growing within the stadium. It tasted good! The elegant library of Celsus, the pillared road to the harbor, the small dwellings of ordinary people, Seljuk's museum, a ruined mosque closed but revealing a beautiful marble column through an open window supposed to have been taken from the temple--it was a most memorable visit on the base tour from Karamursel A.S. to Smyrna (Izmir), but we also saw or passed close by at least 4 of the 7 Churches of Asia in Revelation. That stuck by me as the most notable feature of the tour, and at age 81 it remains so. Why? The impression was indelible, that Turkey is a primary Bible Land.

Thou shall not make unto thee any graven images or any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above or that is in earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Be strong and courageous "Love who I AM with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself." I AM love, and all who live in love live in me, and I in them. And as we live in who I AM, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like the lamb here in this world. Such love has no fear because perfect love casts out fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. If the holy spirit is love, mercy, peace& forgiveness then every teaching that I AM eternal punishment, hell, torment, wrath, and vengefulness defeat the purpose, blaspheming my very nature of kindness peace and patience. It turns my spirit into vengeance and is self-defeating. They're turning mercy into death and the grave... They murder for the law physically and spiritually for gain and power

Christ seems to be talking about Paul in rev. 2:2. Yeshua named all his apostles and Paul isn't one of them. John 5:43 Christ said ...if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive...” Mat 24:26 ...If therefore they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the wilderness; go not forth: Behold, he is in the inner chambers; believe it not..." Paul was the only apostle that Christ could have been talking about.

The region of western Asia Minor was indeed converted to Christianity in the four centuries after St Paul's ministry. It had a population of primarily Greek Christians. Your video did not tell of what happened to them. The sad fact is that they were deliberately exterminated by the Turkish Muslims that live in the region now. The last of the Greek Christians of Asia Minor were killed or expelled in 1922. Some in-laws of mine have ancestry from those Greek Christians who were able to get away from there in time.

Why is Ephesus obscure? St. Paul mentions it in the epistles. St. John the divine mentions it in the book of revelation.
@videoparables
@videoparables 9 ай бұрын
I have been asked this a couple times. Yes, Ephesus is mentioned in the Bible, but few people really know the Bible or Christian history. I wish that wasn't so. From my experience, even among those who attend church, have a limited knowledge of the Bible. And for that reason, most Christian history is obscure to the world. My guess is that you are among the few who do study their Bible. Thank you for your comment.

The Book of Ephesians reveals the 'mystery' of the Body of Christ, which is the mature Church. Paul's teaching in Ephesians is glorious and magnificent, clearly portraying what the mature Church will look like. Almighty God is, in our day, restoring the Church to full maturity, as in the Early Church. Yes, the Lord is restoring the Church to its first love, to be the Bride of Christ, radiant and victorious! It will be obscure no longer! The best is yet to come! Praise the LORD!

Ephesus was an Ancient Greek city, that was later invaded by the Romans. Correction please.
@videoparables
@videoparables 9 ай бұрын
Actually, from 1200 BC, Ephesus was established by the Ionians (who were a distinct people coming from Greek ancestry). Later in the 6th Century BC, the Lydian kings ruled Ephesus. Then Persians took control of the region, then Alexander the Great conquered the Persians and took control in 334 BC. But I will correct your statement that the Romans invaded Ephesus. Actually, in 129 BC, King Atalos of Pergamum ruled Ephesus but was childless, so he gave Ephesus to the Romans in his will. There was no invasion. But here is the point: This was primarily a video about the Obscure Christian History of Ephesus, and that history began during rule by the Roman Empire. There was no reason to give the full and varied background of Ephesus. Thank you for your comment.

There's no evidence that the Nico-latians were Gnostics one way or another. The word means victory over the laity. It is possible that it meant that the early Church rejected the top down rule of clergy. We saw this on Acts where James had his rules to enforce circumcision rejected and had to take it back (see Galatians). Ephesus was the early Apostolic Church, before bishops like Cyprian began to lord their position over laymen against the command of Christ. Not much later clergy began to oppose the command of Paul by wearing ornate hats in Church to make sure everyone knew they were better than laymen. To this day many denominations continue to have men wear funny hats to make it clear clergy is better than laymen. Protestant pastors also lord it over clergy. To call a man Reverend because of his station, is a form of Nucolaitian. I have yet to meet a pastor in my 47 years a Christian that is not on a power trip thinking himself above laity when you get to know them well, such as by respectfully disagreement backed by solid Scripture. Since the 1960s an even worse plague has entered the church effeminate. You can see it by the uncovered heads of women in open rebellion to Scripture. As a physician, I understand he covering is a sign of a disease, not the disease itself. Like fever, it is a very reliable sign of illness. Laodicea Ascendant is nauseous to watch.

It should be noted that the original Greek word translated as "pagan" or '"heathen" is apistos, which means unfaithful. Pre-Christian religions are better understood as those that remained faithful to the most high, God and his loyal family, and those who cleaved to the adversary and theirs, the devotees of antigod cults of power rooted in sex and death magic, and ritual hive mind control over others through manipulative propaganda, perversions of the natural course of human incarnations and abrogations of free thinking and free will, the two greatest gifts the first creator tries to give to all souls, and the adversary seeks to steal. In this way, you can find the faithful in all faiths, and identify the apostates in your midst - the pretenders who create God in their self-serving image or put other spiritual entities above God in their pantheon

The goddess of the Ephesians was NOT ARTEMIS BUT DIANA. ".. the great goddess DIANA... WHOM ALL ASIA AND THE WORLD WORSHIPPED..." - Acts 19:27; KJV Bible Harper's, Dictionary of Classical Literature and Antiquity exposes the NEW BIBLE VERSIONS' ERROR revealing the goddess of Ephesus: Diana is NO Greek divinity, but Asiatic. This is sufficiently shown by the fact that eunuchs were employed in her worship a practice quite foreign to the Greek idea. DIANA WAS ALSO WORSHIPPED AS ' MOTHER GODDESS'. The Oxford Classical Dictionary explains why the goddess at Ephesus should be called Diana and NOT ARTEMIS. The 2 cults had quite different origins. The CULT OF DIANA MIGRATED TO ROME where the Aventine temple of Diana modeled after the Ephesians, NOT the Greek type. The Greek colonists identified her (the Ephesians goddess) with their own ARTEMIS, because she was goddess of the moon and power of nature... But unlike Artemis, SHE (DIANA) was NOT REGARDED AS A VIRGIN, BUT AS A MOTHER... "Diana was chiefly worshipped by women," and consequently has become the 'patron saint' of the feminist and lesbian arm of the New Age movement. They call her the 'living symbol of God' - just as the apparition in Belgium, who called for a mark, called herself" the sign of the Living God. The New Age dictum reads: She is the Queen... the chaste DIANA.. The last initiated Father of the church [Origen] died, carrying with him into his grave the secrets of the Pagan temples... DIANA... the One Mother of God.... Her occult aspects and powers are numberless. (The Secret Doctrine by Luciferian Mdm. H. Blavatsky) The Ephesians remained undaunted in their zeal for the 'Mother of God'. 400 years after Paul's rebuke these citizens declared 'Mary' the 'Mother of God' at the Council of Ephesus. They were led by: 1) Cyril of Alexandria, Egypt, a follower of 'Sophia' the Mother of God and 2) Egyptian Christians who believed the Trinity consisted of the Father, the Virgin, and the Son, Jesus Christ.

Of course, there was no science of archaeology when the KJV was completed in 1611. Today, we know that the Ephesians worshiped Artemis, whom I point out (in the video) was equated in the Roman Pantheon as the goddess Diana. Thanks for your comment.

You hardly make any mention of the apostle John who lived in Ephesus for the rest of his life after leaving Jerusalem with Mary. I'm GUESSING that you know very little about John and what he did and preached while living there. Yes, you mention him writing Revelation, but not much else. You make no mention of where he lived or where Mary's house was. This video is click bait for any serious bible student or scholar. Everything mentioned here is in Acts or a couple of epistles. There is nothing new to learn here.

You assume that because I didn't put everything into this video about John and Mary that I do not know anything. Interesting. You will be happy to learn that there are other videos yet to be edited on them and their history in Ephesus. Stay tuned.

No Catholic says "Christian Catholic" because Catholics are Christian first, so that the phrase "Catholic Christian" is correct because "Catholic" is an adjective or modifier. Welcome to the Catholic Church!

Jesus never "addressed the Ephesians". He'd been dead for years already. Paul and John yes, Jesus no.

Rebel Rog, thank you for your comment. I would like to address two points you make. First, I encourage you to read the Bible, especially the New Testament. The answers to your doubts are there. The purpose for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, coming to earth was not only to live a perfect sinless life, but to shed his blood as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. But none of that would matter if He did not conquer death by rising again. The hope of all Christians is centered in the evidence and fact that Jesus rose from the grave. We are now entered into Holy Week in which we remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So stating that Jesus never addressed the Ephesians because he had died years before is inaccurate, because he rose to life again, and that is the assurance that those who believe the Father's testimony regarding his One and Only Son have. He is alive. His sacrifice was accepted by God in our behalf. And, in believing, we will also rise again as promised. The second point you make is that Jesus himself did not address the Ephesians. Yes, John wrote down what he witnessed and heard when caught up into heaven, but the messages were not his own to the churches. In the first chapter of the last book of the Bible "The Revelation of Jesus Christ"; John hears the command from heaven to write down His message to the seven churches (chapter 1, verses 10-11). We know that the one speaking to John is Jesus Christ because of what follows in the chapter, especially verses 17-18 where it says, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore..." What follows in chapters two and three are His direct messages to the seven churches, addressed by Christ Jesus, and written down by John. Thank you again for the comment. I hope you will sincerely look into the Word of God. Consider Jesus' statement that "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6).

@@videoparablesMy friend, respectfully, I'd like to address your response to my comment: "First, I encourage you to read the Bible, especially the New Testament. The answers to your doubts are there." - I'm 55 years old and I am still a Pastor's son. My dad is retired now but he Pastored a large church south of Kansas City for 40 years after Pastoring several smaller churches for 10 years. Then after he left the large church he Pastored another small church in the Ozarks for 10 more. I grew up in the church. In addition, I went to Bible College myself in the 80's. I learned Hebrew and have spent my entire life not only studying the Bible but the history of the Bible, including Judaic sources, and became relatively fluent in Biblical Hebrew and still study to this day. I am NOT someone who has never read the Bible. "The purpose for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, coming to earth was not only to live a perfect sinless life...". - So let me play the devils advocate here, if Jesus lived a sinless life, how is it he became angry and turned over the tables of the money changers in the Temple, which I hold was probably the reason he was crucified? "But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth" - Col. 3:8 "Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil." Psalms 37:8 My personal opinion is this is what ultimately got Jesus crucified although there is no proof one way or the other. And you can dismiss harvesting on the Sabbath as "the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath", but it still required a sacrifice for the forgiveness of that sin in the Temple. Even though Christians disregard it as not being a sin, it was deemed a sin in Israel by the Religious authorities at the time, according to the law of Moses, and is still regarded as such to this day. "...but to shed his blood as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind." - Please show me ANYWHERE in the Old Testament scriptures where human sacrifice is permissible for the forgiveness of sin!! This is purely a pagan custom!!! Yes I'm aware Abraham was willing to offer up Isaac, but God did not allow it and Japtheth in Judges 11 sacrificed his daughter but neither of these were about forgiveness of sin but rather proof of faith for Abraham and Japtheth keeping his vowel to God, not forgiveness of sin! Rather Deuteronomy 12:29-31 and Jeremiah 7:30-31 say God HATES the sacrifice of children. God HATES the sacrifice of children yet he would sacrifice his own??? "But none of that would matter if He did not conquer death by rising again. The hope of all Christians is centered in the evidence and fact that Jesus rose from the grave." - What evidence, outside the New Testament, is there that Jesus rose from the grave? I have evidence he did not: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYWmh5tqeL2sn5I And I have watched the Christian rebuttals to this documentary but they hold no water if you've watched the complete documentary. I have often though of taking both the documentary and the rebuttal and making them into a video myself because the rebuttal is only impactful if you've never watched the complete documentary. All those rebuttal arguments are addressed in the documentary. "So stating that Jesus never addressed the Ephesians because he had died years before is inaccurate" - Is entirely accurate!! You can make the claim Paul addressed the Ephesians. You can make the claim John addressed the Ephesians according to Revelation 1 but you can't make the claim Jesus Christ did!! "The revelation of Jesus Christ, which GOD GAVE..." It doesn't say "the Revelation BY Jesus Christ", it says the Revelation OF Jesus Christ which GOD GAVE to show his servants...He made it known by sending His angel to his servant John. (using my mother's NIV Bible because it's here and handy) "who testifies to everything he saw (John), that is THE WORD OF GOD and the TESTIMONY of Jesus Christ". Jesus didn't say any of this according to John, God did! Verse 4 "John to the seven churches..." "We know that the one speaking to John is Jesus Christ" - Wrong, I've proven that already according to John it was God, if you believe the New Testament which I do not. At least not in the same way you do. I believe Jesus may well have manifested himself in spiritual form with the physical appearance he had before his death. But I do not believe in the physical resurrection as you do. Now here is one for you. "Thou shalt have NO other God's before me". And that includes Jesus and all other gods along with him. Respectfully, God bless!!!!

@@videoparables I included a link to back up one of my claims in the previous response and I'm pretty confident that's why it was deleted by Google, not the length. So no links this time: 1. I have spent my entire life studying the Bible and I'm willing to bet I know it better than you. In fact I'm sure I do because you can't even get Revelation 1:1,2 right. I'm 55 years old, my dad pastored for 60 years so I was born into it, I attended Bible college in the 80's and I'm a bit of a Hebrew scholar myself. 2. It clearly states in Revelation 1:1 that GOD GAVE the "Revelation of Jesus Christ", to Jesus, who gave it to an Angel who gave it to John. JESUS DID NOT ADDRESS THE CHURCHES, GOD DID!!!! It states that again in verse 2 "...his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw, that is, THE WORD OF GOD and the testimony of Jesus Christ. JESUS DID NOT ADDRESS ANY OF THE CHURCHES, GOD DID. 3. By putting the WORDS OF GOD in the mouth of Jesus you are breaking the very first Commandments which says "Thou shalt have no other God before me". Which includes Jesus and all other gods. Christians consistently brake the first commandment by putting Jesus ahead of God, as you are doing here and when they "pray in Jesus name". Christians worship the son over the Father. 4. Jesus bones were found in his ussary in Israel along with those of the rest of his family. This is the link I sent. You can watch the documentary yourself, please watch it in full. It's called "The Jesus Family Tomb" by Simcha Jacobovici Then when you watch the Christian rebuttal of the documentary you will clearly see it holds no water. The Christian rebuttal only makes sense to those who have not watched the documentation of the tomb in full and are not willing to be open minded. 5. Please show me ANYWHERE in the Old Testament scriptures where human sacrifice is permissible for the forgiveness of sins???? The sacrifice of Isaac was not allowed to happen, even if it had it was about faithfulness, not forgiveness of sins. Japtheth's sacrifice of his daughter was not commanded or requested by God, even so it was a Thanksgiving offering and considered a sin. PLUS I can show you numerous places in Old Testament scripture that human child sacrifice waa forbidden!!!! To claim Jesus as the son of God and that God allowed his own son to be sacrificed for forgiveness of sin is pure pagan theology and I would go as far as saying Satanic. I would expect that in worship of Molech for example, not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 6. You're celebrating your pagan holiday of Easter this weekend. Easter comes from the pagan goddess Ishtar and is a fertility holiday with rabbits and eggs as symbols of fertility. Today's Christianity is a pagan religion created by Emperor Constantine 300 years after the death of Jesus. Like Joshua, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, not pagan Christian traditions nor a child sacrifice, "the son of God", 2,000 years ago for the forgiveness of sins. I stand behind my original comment, Jesus had been dead for decades, Paul and John addressed the Ephesians, Jesus never did. Hopefully you'll get this one. I'm not doing it again because you aren't going to listen or take this serious anyway, Christians are not open-minded truth seekers. They have all been programmed to only accept what they want to believe as truth, rather it is or not. God bless!!

Hey, What's wrong with doing as you wish while in the flesh? On a more serious note, my wife and I passed by these ruins on our way up the hill to visit someplace where the virgin Mary was fabled to have spent the latter years of her life. Kuşadası was nice. I wish we spent more time there rather than chasing after some castles in the sky. Religious people are killjoy. I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.
