I'd believe it. I'm not too torn up about it, either. It's not like Pokerus was a big deal. In gen 2, in addition to the regular stat badge boosts that existed in the first 3 gens, each gym badge will give a boost of 12.5% to your attacks that are of the type of the gym where you got the badge. Even though Blue doesn't specialize in any type, his badge still boosts ground type moves as if it was still Giovanni. This means that if you have beaten every gym leader from both Kanto and Johto, every single one of your offensive moves will have its power boosted... except for the Dark-type ones, since it's the only type that doesn't have a gym. This feature is never referenced in the game in any way, and to my knowledge was never officially acknowledged in any capacity. It was most likely discovered by datamining the game.

As you said, with how easy it is to prep a Pokémon for competitive now a days, it wouldn’t shock me if they removed Pokerus purely because it became redundant. Starting with SwSh they removed the limit on vitamins, and with there being easy ways to grind money in SwSh & SV, the only purpose Pokerus would serve is bragging rights if you got it naturally. Not to mention the Macho Brace already did the same thing anyways. All that being said, with it still being in the code and all, it would’ve been cool if Pokémon transfered into SV with it got a special mark

@CaptainObliviousVАй бұрын
@@rjd-kh8et the popularity difference between Pokerus and shinies is as wide as Eternatus is big. Pretty much everyone knows what a shiny is, be it through word of mouth or Pokémon literally putting promotional stuff in the Switch’s notifications, meanwhile even after all this time Pokerus is still mostly obscure, only rarely talked about by old school competitive players and “cool fact” videos. You have a much better chance at finding a random full odds shiny than getting Pokerus naturally; so rare that they felt the need to introduce an item equivalent along side it. I remember when I played HeartGold I was grinding around Mt Silver, and I did a routine trip to the Pokemon center. I was going through the motions mashing A then I saw sometjing about pokerus. So I got pokerus years before I encountered my first shiny that wasn't Gyrados.
@TheRandomJammy7 ай бұрын
I think that while it's rarer from a number perspective, it's more common from a player pov. The amount of wild Pokémon you face that can be shiny is often quite low in an average play through, while the amount of Pokémon that could give you pokerus is higher.

Other then Buneary who starts with an extremely low happiness, yeah I agree.

@@Infindox I kind of like Buneary and Lopunny's gimmick. Buneary is the only pokemon that naturally learns frustration, while Lopunny is the only one that naturally learns return

Gamefreak is the king of feature abandonment. Probably because they used to fire their whole programming staff between games to save costs.

really wish they made egg moves and hidden abilities easier to get in order to improve accessibility to pokemon without gening for VGG that they're so against instead of pokerus which I think has less of an impact than if getting egg moves and hidden abilities were easier bc imo that's the hardest bit but i don't play vgc so I hope the change did help people who do play it

They did that in S/V. You can get egg moves by deleting moves from your Pokemon to give them empty slots, let them hold a Mirror Herb, then starting a picnic with a it and a Pokemon that knows the move you want to copy. You can also get hidden abilities by using Ability Patches (which were also in Sw/Sh).

Most of these are never stated and are discovered accidently or randomly.

They need to expand pokemons uses in game. Also would be nice to have where you can have a personal region in the game. Like the hideouts. Let me live surrounded with my pokemon. This is where pal world really beats pokemon. Let me have a camp where they do things. Like expanding the island thing in sun and moon to have the real pokemon and be a real place. Setting up maybe a stable for your mons, toys, etc etc

I remember encountering Pokerus naturally, and all of a sudden I was the most popular kid. Everyone wants the rus!

IV's. I hate that i learned what they were. Can't enjoy the game as much as I used to. Wish they'd get rid of them.
@Celestia2827 ай бұрын
Same here. Whenever I play, I just can't stop myself from caring about them. I don't care about getting perfect IVs, thankfully, but I have to get IVs that are at least decent on all my team members. If I catch a Ralts, and it has a special attack IV of 8, that's a reroll. It really sucks.
