I actually got good chuckles out of the self aware humor. This is an older game, and such jokes weren't deadpooled to death, and it was legit the developers kinda poking fun at how they were making a fantasy adventure game...with skittles. Good voice acting too. I like darkened skyes still today. Bit janky but unique.

Fun trivia on some Disney characters: Horace, Clarabelle and Magica still regularly appear in the Dutch weekly Donald Duck Magazine, and Magica has also made numerous appearances (even stories based around her) in the Donald Duck pocketbooks. Europe, especially Italy, the Netherlands and *I believe* Germany and Denmark are pretty big on these comics. We've even got a few iterations on Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse that are a bit more mature-oriented, like Donald Duck by way of Marvel (Paperinik New Adventures) where themes like genocide, vengeance deliberate disruption of world peace to make weapons industries thrive, human-and-AI relationships and ethics in the future, and minimizing contact with your loved ones to keep them safe come into play. Heck, one story even touches upon what is essentially A.I. generated movies. There's also Mickey's Mysteries, which has as its first story Mickey inheriting a detective agency in another city-- after an old school friend of his vanished during a car crash. In that same story, Mickey's kidnapped by the mob and forced to have a foreign assassin arrested, which was hired by a local millionaire to silence a *previous* assassin that got arrested, and could tell the police some undesirable stories about said millionaire. Hope you found this interesting!

Apparently, Darkened Skye was loosely based on a series of Skittles ads during that time period, and the folks at Mars were pretty hands-off aside from not wanting snakes in the game (which is a weird stipulation, but I digress).

The oddest thing about Darkened Skye is they got Peter Berkrot, the voice actor of Ignatius Mortimer Meen (I.M. Meen) and Chloe Leamon, the voice actress of Ophelia Chill (Chill Manor) to voice a pair of merchants in the game. So on top of the game somehow being a tie-in for Skittles, they also have two folks who voiced a pair of history (and general knowledge) hating magicians from two of the notorious CDi games previously listed.

For I Spy, I grew up with three of them actually, all on PC: Treasure Hunt (easily my favorite), Spooky Mansion (think that’s the name, easy to check because I think it’s significantly less obscure), and Fantasy. All three followed the same formula, but man was it a good formula. Explore an adventure game world looking for I Spy puzzles, with each one completed revealing a key item for the endgame resolution, such as a piece of a map in Treasure Hunt (usually one specific thing to spot reveals the item, but you still need to clear the whole puzzle to claim it). There are three looping scenarios, with three different I Spy puzzles at each location and three greatly different endgame segments. Well, in Treasure Hunt and Spooky Mansion at least: despite being my wildcard pick, Fantasy had three different adventure overworlds (space, underwater, medieval) that each followed this formula separately (so, three of these games in one basically). I doubt any of these old PC games work anymore, but if anyone knows how to get them working and is nostalgic for any of them, I’d recommend checking them out. Especially Treasure Hunt.

My absolute favorite obscure licensed game is the first Bakugan game on... Pretty much every late 2000s console you can think of, minus gamecube and gba It has AMAZING music, great voice acting from the anime, a silly story, a bakugan that's so iconic it was included in the reboot (Leonidas!) And its just generally fun to play, mixing the real board game with the hyperstylized version from the anime and some video game logic. I'd genuinely recommend it a lot!

Glad to see ya back in action! Congrats on 50 Benjamage episodes! I'll throw one of my own favorite licensed obscurities out there: Yu-Gi-Oh Falsebound Kingdom for GameCube! Despite the franchise, it's not a TCG game, it's actually a hybrid RTS-RPG! It has a really cool original story with the OG cast stuck in a virtual fantasy and having to battle their way with classic YGO monsters as their army. Each unit is a team of there monsters, and when they clash on the field, it turns into a 3v3 turn-based battle. The game is uniquely fun and is definitely worth a try if you can find it at a decent price (or if, ahem, a Dolphin gives it to you)

Oh shit, The Great Edgar Hunt was in that category of licensed PS2 games that i will forever hold closely to my heart. Wacky Races PS2 is obviously at the apex of those, but considering how many good licensed games i grew up with, it surprises me how bad the stigma of licensed games are. On a side note, it's odd that almost all of them were either Europe exclusives, or Europe exclusive versions of games released everyone on other platforms. i think overall like 75% of them fit that bill. weird.

A regular copy, what I bought, and a Toys R Us version. The only difference between them is two bonus Bakugan in the Toys R Us version (one of which was my first Bakugan). Also I looked in the Save Data of the Wii, these two versions have separate save data just like a Pokémon game. Regardless of version, you thought the I Spy song was good? I'm not the kind who minds the slow frequency of content creators (mostly cause I got Stardew Valley to preoccupy my time anyway XD). I get it, sometimes things are complicated, and I just care that they're safe and not doing something really shady. So what have we here? Oh man, Darkened Skye is so ridiculous I am fascinated. Like, replace the Skittles with literally anything else, and that magic combination system would still be interesting, but maybe everything else about it would feel more generic. Even if you are subscribed to Projared Plays, you may not have caught his own playthrough of it. In fact, only a bit over 40 thousand people watched it. My personal pick for this topic is the California Raisins game, The Grape Escape. Like the Gorillaz, the California Raisins were an animated band that almost transcended the line between fiction and reality. Remember the guy who made arguably the scariest Satan in the Mark Twain movie? Will Vinton was also pretty well involved in marketing, creating both the Dominos Pizza's mascot The Noid, and the California Raisins, both of whom got NES games. Sadly, the latter was never officially released, and I only heard it through the grapevine, as it were, when Jontron covered it on his licenced food based games video. I find it strange that they cancelled it, as it was almost fully ready to be released, even if it was only cancelled due to the declining popularity of the brand. Considering I'm the only one who talked about it here so far, it's pretty safe to say it qualifies, though only ROMs of it exist.
