@@caaliber115 Well, the one in the intro sequence wouldn't be in any way catchable, so you'd just be forced to look at a shiny that you can't get. Also, shinies are in no way different from their regular counterparts. They're just incredibly rare and look different. Like a foil trading card.

Pokémon Black, White, and their sequels sold a combined total of over 24,000,000 copies. Shiny Pokémon appear in about 1/8192. Assuming everybody who got their copy of the game at least started it, that means that about 2,500 people just naturally got a shiny intro Pokémon when they first started the game... and probably wouldn't have figured the fact that it was shiny...

I remember my old copy of Pokémon Gold version where my odd egg hatched a shiny Elekid. I had the preconceived notion that like the Red Gyarados, the odd egg forcibly gave you a shiny. If only I had known I got super lucky, I might have actually raised an Electabuzz. Also, I ran across a shiny Wobbafett in Ruby version, but it was a safari zone nightmare and I failed to catch it. I died a little on the inside that day.

Minor fact: in RSE, it’s not just the Wally capture scene where you encounter uncatchable shinies. The trainers you fight also have a chance to have their pokemon to be shiny. It was only once, but I ran into a hiker who had a shiny Graveler. In all likelihood, trainer battles are probably considered to be the same as wild encounters but with additional rules in these games, which allows this.

But simple fact is that there is many references to Mother is "Pokeymon" games, and generally they become more and more transparent about that recently, especially when continuation of Mother is extremely unlikely. Do you want some examples? Or we end on reminding that I said "possibly"? One thing though. For some reason people forget that invaders from Mother were in fact interdimensional, not extraterrestrial. I just saying that people from Ultra Space resemble Starman's after all. Catherine's unused Pokemon track was probably a composition that Shoji Meguro made in his free time, that he likely let the development team use to test the engine's music playback. I was thinking that exact same thing...Most 12-year-olds are oblivious to that kind of stuff so it would not have mattered to them for the most part. Also, I assume there are quite a bit of 12-year-old girls who watch pokemon as well, maybe even more so than boys.

I like the corrupted stuff like shadow Pokémon but the nuclear types from Pokémon Uranium are even more interesting. Imagine a whole region dedicated to an apocalyptic setting with mutations and crap, the Hiroshima region if you would... lol.

Did you know that Black and White had the deepest story in the series told in an unusually mature manner which is completely underrated? First game in the series that made me question the morale of being a trainer and the first game to give me a perspective of both human and Pokémon. The characters were so well done, especially N. Wonder if we will ever get games like Gen V again. I started with Gen 1 like most people and think Gen 5 was the high point.

Weirdly enough, this is why the Gen 5 story didn't resonate with me and my friends, to the point where none of us even completed the games. We were the kind of kids who would overthink the implications of the Pokemon world, so none of it was deep or mature for us. It was the game repeating the kinds of things that we mused on for years at that point. It was boring to us.
