I was in Florida, on the other side of the Atlantic, and we had an underground rave scene that was equally magical. In the pre-internet era, 500 kids could spend 12 hours dancing in a dark club, emerge into the bright Florida sun on a Sunday morning, and the rest of the world had no idea it was happening. We'd trickle out onto Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando just as parents and their kids were marching steadily to the nearby church, and they'd stare at us like we were vampires escaping from a crypt. It's like we lived in a parallel universe that existed only at night, and the straight world was completely unaware of this shadow world. There are no secrets anymore, thanks to the internet, but I'm grateful I was born in a time when I could live in that alternate reality, even if only for a short while

Great memories, remember driving there from Liverpool after I had finished work at 4pm, we were driving top speed to try an get there quickly as possible, it was only when we drove back in the morning when it was light we could see that there was sheer drops either side of the wee road leading to the party, there was a Jag that had gone over the edge on it's roof. When we were driving down the M6 in the sun I kept on thinking I could see blue lights flashing behind me, kept thinking it was the bizzies but it was just the sun reflecting off my mirrors, ha ha good time.

Tr3vor1 went to raves from 2008-2012, they were cool. Partied a lot and had a good time. But theres nothing better than progressive, badass, old school 90's rave sets. Everyone is in tune. Terrible dancing and not giving 2 shits about it.Wish I coulda been there to experience it.
@tommy23_ncl9 жыл бұрын
Tr3vor1 I relate to that mate. Good film called "Midnight in Paris" analyses the effect of feeling you were born in the wrong generation. About a writer who wishes he was born in the 20s. Same with music. I often think "ahh man, wish I'd seen 90s rave. Oh no wait, earlier, 80s hip hop. Oh no wait, 70s prog rock. Oh no wait, 60s hippie movement. Oh no wait, 50s rock n roll." And so on... I like to think in 30 years there'll be kids going "damn, wish I'd seen those deep house sets". But in reality, I think for the most part the soul has gone from music, and it's gonna take a major shake up to get back on track

I was lucky enough to be just old enough to enjoy the punk scene 12-13 when it started, in Liverpool the famous punk club Eric's did a matinee of a Saturday for under 18, then 10 years later I was still young enough 22-23 to be able to go to the rave scene, TBF there was guys in their 30's and 40's at clubs no one gave a fuck, my mates still go out and they are in their 50's now, last time I went out was the Cream party at the Pier Head on millennium night, spent most of the night snorting charlie and shagging my bird in the porta loos, lol. We drove up to Techodrome from Liverpool, N-Joi's set was one that sticks out, great night.
