Games Workshop- Ash Waste Nomads!

Damn do I like these guys!
Junky, assorted, randomly dangling equipment. Patched, bandaged, and slapshod weapons.
No discernible skin or faces to paint, making them excellent faceless minions or opponents.
Ball joint sockets for ease of conversion.
Somewhat modular body structures, especially in comparison to other current GW kits.
All I feel they're really missing are heavy weapon and close combat options, but I guess that's what the inevitable upgrade sprues would be for, should they materialize.
As they are I think they'd work great across a range of tabletop games, in addition to Necromunda.

Necromunda is by far my favorite miniatures that GW makes. They just have so many uses beyond the core game.. I really don't play GW games anymore and I haven't for some time, but I still buy Necromunda minis because they just look so damn cool. I've had my eye on these blokes for a while, but haven't purchased any yet since I'm trying to paint up what minis I have. But the Nomads, the new Killteam Traitor Guardsmen, and the soon to be released Chaos Cultists are high on my list of minis to get in the future. These guys would make great Raiders (or even Tribals) in This Is Not A Test and I also had an idea to make a Tusken Raider style crew for Stargrave having them highjack a POS cargo ship and cruise around the galaxy. Give them totally bland names like Steve, Richard, and Dale, but have them hoot, holler, and grunt like Tuskens.

Don't like the Bug riders????? Just the concept ALONE is COOL!!!!!! The porcilen doll faces are really creepy though!!!!! I want to haul out some star ship trooper warrior bugs but don't have the waste land theme figs for it:(! Any how GREAT haul Buddy!!!!!! Can't wait to see another AWESOME paint job on those bad boys!!!!!!!

I have a box of those in my pile of shame, the nomads. I will get to them someday. Probably paint them the same way I would paint a tank, finished with a heavy oil wash to dirty them up.

Like you I really like these Necromunda Ash Waste nomads. And will buy some soon. Great design work on all the details/equipment. Any chance of doing a review of the Necromunda Ash Waste Nomads Dustback Helamites?

I know Armageddon and necromunda are different worlds. But in the old fluff for the orc invasion of Armageddon it talks about gaseous clouds floating around in the ash wastes poisoning people and even orks . Wouldn't it make sense then if conditions were similar that some of that equipment are rebreathers of some sort. Water supply might also be a reason for those tank like objects.

Outside of sourcing arms that match their aesthetic, I'd say pretty decent actually. They're so raggedy and patchwork by design that I could totally see some chaos influence there!

Often times I don't notice it when working casually on it. It's not until it's all zoomed in on camera and right in my face that I realize I missed a ton of spots.
