The public only cared about the property being cleaned outside. Once that was done so were they. Built a fence and forget about him. This man has received more love than he has had for years, What he does with his property as letting his friend stay in a house that Richard has isn't their business. I'm glad this man started helping him. They even let Richard spend the night and play with the kids. Love is the key and it's too bad we don't offer it enough.

Amazing transformation. I know, I know, it's not nearly finished, nor will it possibly ever be finished; but I am impressed with the tenacity of this man who chose to make it his monumental effort to help this man get his life back. How those critical neighbors saw evil intent in the reasons for helping is beyond me. How much time and physical and mental energy was involved seemed to be beyond their ken. This family thoroughly deserves the property they have moved into. They have earned it and will continue to pay for it with time, energy and mental effort. And kudos to any and all the neighbors who helped.
@luannapierce25444 жыл бұрын
Could not have said it much better myself. In addition, Richard also made a monumental effort to listen to the voice of reason in his head and to deal with his anxiety. It helped that the psychologist was there to give Richard a voice, be on his side, understand what he was going through as well, while still being supportive of Andy's goals. I enjoyed this so much more than Hoarders and Hoarding: Buried Alive. It's so nice to know that Andy and his family have moved in nextdoor. They've become like an extended family to Richard. They've brought him out of the darkness and loneliness of being a recluse. Richard now has friends! Andy has pushed him, every step of the way, to clear out space in his home. I loved how they both laugh and joke about it all. Andy n his family living nextdoor have really saved Richard's life, from the hoard and from the depression Richard had to of been feeling. I can picture then both with gray hair and walking with canes, still laughing and arguing about some useless piece of trash that Richard wants to keep. The Beatles said it all in 2 little sentences.... "All you need is love love. Love is all you need."

Ignore the busy-bodies Andy, let them talk all they want; they obviously have nothing better to do with their boring judgemental lives. Guaranteed they’re the same tattle-tales that moaned about the mess and the “cost to the council and ourselves..” before the clean-up began 🙄 You and your lovely wife deserve medals, not negative opinions and BS. Wow... Andy is extremely manipulative and he will take Richard for everything he can. Unfortunately, it really isn’t often someone will do something for someone else unless there is something in it for them! If Andy was really trying to help, he would have cleared the other house and encouraged Richard to move in while they clear the other house. I’m willing to be that Andy scores quite high on the psychopathy checklist!

Of all the comments made, and somehow I’ve read them all, yours resonates like no other. What does Andy have to gain ultimately? This story makes me nervous and hopeful at the same time. Andy’s apparent friendship has made a dent that no neighbor or psychologist could. Quite a mystery...

What Andy and his family and some neighbours did for Richard is a beautiful thing! It's sad that some chose to question Andy's motives because he appears to be quite an authentic individual with a genuine smile and a warm personality. I come from a psychology and psychiatry background - for whatever that is worth! And yes, Andy rings genuine to me and he did something beautiful for this man. God bless you Andy and you too Richard. I hope you are now somewhat free of the clutter and I am sure that if you are, you also feel lighter and also feel happier that you live in an environment in which you can breathe and feel safe and on top of it, you have people around you who care for you. That is undeniable to all who watch this video! It's a demonstration of the goodness of the human heart and true compassion.

I hope that Richard truly understands & appreciates all the support he is getting from the community, he is a lucky man to have so many people genuinely care about him...this is how communities should be, people caring & helping one another, it does give a sense of hope that people still are willing to help one another...Andy & his family are the best thing that could of happened to Richard they love him & he is part of their family, i loved this story & pray that Richard does well...

I had been thinking about whether or not an archive company would find use for the papers - glad that such a company was found!

I wouldn't have the patience to argue with Richard without losing it completely. I lived with a hoarder for years but nothing as bad as this.
