Great video. Heaps of info. I watch this based on RPG usage but now using Obsidian as my preferred organizer. So even though you might not use something for RPGs that much (table formulas), this is really handy outside the D&D realm. So keep covering the features! Thanks

It's not something I've tried myself but looking through google and the forums. This looks like it might provide a way. forum.obsidian.md/t/markdown-tables-with-row-numbers/35515/2

Is there a way to find a #Tag inside a Cell of the Advanced Table, without it highlighting the whole table? I try to find a #tag within a specific section of a large table, but it just highlights the entire thing when i try and navigate to it! Wonder if it's possible at all?

This seems to work with open office too. However longer process. Copy your table > paste into WRITER > add a TAB button press between each column > click Table > Convert > text to table > select Tab > ok. This should put the data into a table. Now copy and paste this from writer into calc and then copy from calc into obsidian. Hope this helps cheapskates like me without office :-) I did try on online excel but didn't seem to want to play ball. May have just been the table I was pasting in?

Might also work in Google Sheets.

one issue I encountered with tables is adding links into the table and renaming the link with a pipe sign. Because of the pipe sign within the link, it splits the text of the link into two parts. Do you know any solutions for this?
@JoshPlunkett Жыл бұрын
Yes this appears to be a limitation. You can try and escape the pipe \| like this and sometimes that works. But in this case I don't believe it does.

I noticed that advanced tables doesn't like when you make a link to another note inside the table. It tends to start freaking out
@JoshPlunkett Жыл бұрын
Sometimes you need to 'escape' the special characters to make more advanced stuff. Basically this means you put a '\' in front of the special characters and this can sometimes allow you to achieve magic.

@@JoshPlunkett duly noted. I’ll make an experiment next time I’m in front of my computer. Thank you

word | word | word --- | --- | --- word | word | word Only need 3 dashes and you don't need the pipe at the start and end in normal tables

That's even worse for my ocd haha 😄

In the format with pipe at beginning of each row, when I move cursor out of the table in editing mode, there is a large blank area created between the table and following text underneath the table, which is very distracting. This happens when live preview mode is turned on. If live preview is turned off, this blank area doesn't appear when cursor is moved out of table. Deleting the pipes at the beginning can eliminate this blank when cursor is moved out of table for live preview mode.
