I think self-promoting on an artist's tracks is okay AS LONG as that artist was a major inspiration for you, and you say so when commenting (and you mean it) You'll find people there who should like the kind of music you're producing (if you're taking inspiration from the artist, reproducing a similar style etc.) I don't really see it as disrespectful or anything, if anything it's giving respect to the artist, (as imitation is the most sincere form of flattery) even though Lil Peep isn't here to recieve it anymore... tomdotexe who wouldn’t use connections? How does that make you a plant? You should use anything you can on your come up. An industry plant is basically being forced to uphold an image. Look at his old shit. His style didn’t change that much. It still has this hype experimental vibe. Astroworld is just a mainstream album.
@iainashe83254 жыл бұрын
tomdotexe Travis Scott has a father who already had a career in the industry. Travis already had a passion for music and worked at it, his father didn’t boost him straight to the top, he gave Travis the networking opportunity’s, but Travis had to do the rest of the work. How do you think the music industry works lol? Somebody eventually has to discover you and through networking you build relationships throughout the industry. You cannot simply avoid people giving you boosts in your career, that’s how you grow. Travis took advantage of his fathers networking opportunity’s, it was a smart move and in no way makes him an industry plant. His brand is created by him, he has created his own distinct sound, and he has also worked years to get to where he is today, this isn’t some overnight kinda thing. lol understand what an industry plant is and then try to say he’s an industry plant.

I don’t get this whole plant thing. People like Travis Scott and other rappers who own record labels are always on the lookout for rappers they think are good and to sign to their label. There is no harm in him featuring him in a song or promoting him because he is on his label.

Don Toliver was popping in his city before Travis picked him up. Diva wasn't like a hit or anything but it had some good traction and a lot of people in Houston were bumping it. Kevin Gates even jumped on the remix before Astroworld even had a release date.

Cuzzy Oz Having connections is a plant. I love Travis Scott and he’s in my top 5 favorite artists, but I mean come on ASAP Ferg, 2 Chainz, T.I., Meek Mill on his FIRST commercial mixtape, you don’t just make those connections by yourself. Travis has a lot of help from his label to get those features thus making him an industry plant. Good thing the label promoted his music tho, or else he wouldn’t be dropping 🔥 every year.

It's mad difficult to get on organically even if your music is great. The time and effort and funds it takes to produce music and then promote it while also trying to support yourself until your career takes off -- a label is just more efficient at it than a regular person. No cap. Think about it. How many rappers are you listening to with 26 followers on twitter?

No, I've listened to Travis's way old music and can actually see why TI and Kanye could like him. He was working on mixtapes since 2007 when his first came out called BAPE. Then did like 3 duo mixtapes; all the way up to Daytona USA. His raping ability was noticable, not on all tracks as there was a lot in total but enough stand outs that could of gotten him in a position to get noticed. Yeah he doesn't talk about his past but that doesn't mean he was like the grand dad of plants. He worked hard, for where he got and the songs that came out right after he got noticed are some of his best, astroworld is trash compared to 16 chapels, animals, and 12 disciples. Like your channel but do some research more than one article.
