+InfinityCraft still, because of how most CPU's are made, maximum freq is about 4.5 GHz, I don't think you can get any performance benefits after it. Signals just begin to pile as the rail is overloaded.

matt hancock I'm just taking a piss at amd. The CMT style architecture is actually a very good one, but its more for servers and the likes. Very space efficient and very easy to make. Only reason it didn't go so well was because amd thought there would be better multicore support back then, it went slower than they thought so their 8 cores suffered compared to intels larger 4 cores. :)

Google "Leidenfrost effect", it's better if LN2 spills over your arm/hand because it "glides" off your skin, whereas if it gets absorbed in your clothes, it will cause a frostbite.

you have to do it in your motherboard some asus motherboards have a software to overclock it in a single click, but they have a limit for no limits, you have to do it in your motherboard

Avec un Watercooling et un FX8350 j'ai stabilisé la fréquence sous 3dmark vantage à 4.9Ghz et à 5ghz impossible ca freeze au 1er test CPU dans les 20/25s que c'est commencé. par contre j'ai réussis comme vous sur 2 coeurs à 5.6Ghz mais le score étais divisé par 2,5 donc ou est l'intéret d'atteindre 8ghz au final si c'est pour avoir les perfs d'un Athlon X2 à 3ghz d'origine?

Pilot LN2 isn't cheap, plus the CPU would be very unstable. Also only 2 cores, 2 threads. Put it against, say, an I7 6700k and it will be wrecked by both its multi and single core performance

Doctor Velociraptor -6700k year 2015 cost 350€ (Amazon) -Bulldozer processors year 2011 cost 120 to 160 € (amazon) TheWretchedWorld -can't compare for sandy bridge prices because the only one I've found costs 400+ $ (probably not updated Amazon), don't care about performances as I was talking only about money, they both came out in 2011, It should be obvious that a CPU should perform better than a 200€ cheaper one (when launched).

they're trying to get the biggest frequency as possible, of course you won't put your CPU at 8ghz for an everyday use, it wouldn't last a day even with liquid nitrogen cooling

I guess technically it was formless, but it was an opinion based on the fact that relatively ~8ghz is a bigger value than 4.5ghz (for example). Even if 8ghz itself isn't "big", I understood that he was saying it was a larger frequency relative to what we would expect. Big in this case is basically synonymous to large (as in "large relative to..."). Yeah all good, we are just having crappy internet arguments anyway =P

Cristi Ursu you`re wrong on your firt statement. A amd 8 core isn`t ment to compare to a i7 so ofcourse it gets beaten by a 6core. But if you compare a fx8xxx to a i5 (wich it was supposed to be) it keeps up really well if not beats it. The only i5 that actually wins it are the high end ones (wich are around 60$ more). And then that i5 only wins at gaming with a few fps, everything else is faster on the amd 8 core (video editing, rendering, just everything that uses all the cores).

An old AMD athlon 2400 can manage without heatsink at 1.8ghz 600 degrees celsius. A fx with a 95W TDP could probably get it to 800.

Cool! My 8120 has been running at 4.8 now for about a year and a half, it's been turned on the whole time exept one night when the lightning was on it's way. Max temp i reach is 60 if i burn it with prime 95, and this is on air... I could push it alot further, but i really do not see the point since it has been running so smooth at a increase of.. well i do not know how to calculate the % increased.. 3.1 to 4.8 Ghz..

It all depends on the task wether AMD or Intel is better.... When you render Videos a AMD FX-8350 is better even at standard clock speeds because it has more cores. When playing Games its different,but i would say that it can easily beat a i7 4790k at 4,5 ghz with that clock speed :)

Rcmodellbau_DE The 8350 is a waste of money, if you're going the fx route get an 8320, they're the same thing, its just the 8350 is over clocked out of the box, and the 8320 can go to the same frequency.

Bravo les gars tres bon setup. j'avais la meme carte mere en 2011-2012 avec un phenom II 6x poussé a 5.4Ghz. apres passé au AMD fx 8150 o.c 5.2 Ghz stable water koolance système complet ( ram , cpu , motherboard , video ) 3 HD 6950 o.c bios 6970 en crossfire.
