Haha no problem! The driver said it was fine this time. Now I know. See here it expires 24 hours from the time you first use it.

Yes exactly! I thought there was a sensor or you have to push on the door. That push bar is a bit hidden. I like it though.

What hotel were you staying in?

It was a very weird inn / suite called the Byward Suites on Dalhousie Street near the corner of Rideau Street. There was no staff there or front desk and everything was done remotely such as the person texting me the access code, etc. But it seemed like a decent place to stay for a simple night.

Yep I read about it. For my day pass it was just a piece of paper with a QR code on it

PRESTO is the smart card fare system used by many Ontario transit agencies. If you load cash to a PRESTO card you can use it to pay your fare in Ottawa, Toronto and on GO Transit to name a few...
