The overhead power line is a catenary. The device on the train that touches it is a pantograph. The main advantage of electric power is that the train itself does not pollute, so there is less need of air circulation in the underground stations. Having the feed wire overhead reduces the chance of electrocution if someone goes onto the tracks (though they may still be hit by a train).

Tbh i wishes they just ditched LRT in Favour of a hybrid (elevated and underground) subway system cuz it’s clear that a train braking down like every day isn’t the way to go. And it would’ve been easy to implement a subway. Just add the electric rail, use steel wheel cars, weather proof the thing, make it an elevated floor train and not a low floor train and buy a RELIABLE train set (like an R160B) or the MR63 (except that’s for concrete lines).
@AlexGetsAroundTO Жыл бұрын
Good comment actually, sadly at the time they were constructing this possessed line it was very expensive to build a subway and it still is today

Will you plan to film the Trillium line after it reopens? Will you also film the LRT in Kitchener-Waterloo one day? The exit signs on the TTC subway use the classic red 'EXIT' sign while the O-Train use the green running man exit sign. Johnny Strides has also been to Ottawa recently.

@@AlexGetsAroundTO There’s nothing wrong with this train/tram set. The problem is with how it’s being used. This is a tram set, not a subway set. It’s designed to be used on surface lines running on streets, with low speeds, frequent stops and thus has fewer doors that are lighter duty. There was no need for low floor tram sets in Ottawa, where the system has full grade separation. Should have just used Bombardier or Kawasaki high floor sets.
