Honestly, as a muslim, i am glad they changed the music in the fire temple. Not because it was offensive or anything like that, but because it was extremly distracting, i kept feeling like i should go pray every five minutes, and the music works well even without the chant so it's all good. I've found that the fall damage canceling roll works best when you're dropping, not jumping. For example, when you're hanging on a ledge and drop, or if you do a short hop off the ledge. I don't really know how to manipulate the latter, so I generally stick to the former. Some ledges can't be grabbed or short hopped off of, but walking slowly will cause Link to just drop down, the roll should work with that too. Of course, as with the N64 version, falling a super long distance will disable the roll altogether, so don't even bother.
@the1zeldafan6094 жыл бұрын
depends on the distance away you are from the ledge. if ur a super small distance away from the ledge you grab on to the ledge, if you are far enough to build up a run for half a second before you reach the ledge you'll short hop.
@khirek53352 жыл бұрын
You can low jump off of any ledge if you do a role and the role animation ends exactly when you're about to hit the ledge. It's precise but it happened to me occasionally when jumping over the labyrinth in secret forest meadow and rolling inbetween jumps. Other than that you can just wear the hover boots as they don't initiate a jump when going over a ledge. You can even use that to roll off of the ledge high inside the windmill in kakariko village and land right behind the well without taking damage. Those never happened. Other M didn’t have a plot, it was all gameplay, that is all there is to say on the matter.
@protocetid5 жыл бұрын
@@magetsalive5162 Metroid is an important IP to me, yet ever since I've branched out from playing primarily Nintendo games something has been nagging at me. Let's be honest, Samus's games have a lot of overlap with The Legend of Zelda. The sidescrollers are Zelda mixed with platforming, and the rest are (more or less) OoT in first person. Metroid's resemblance might be hurting it; it's never been a consistent seller. Link's series beats it in popularity (that's why there are many more releases for it) and is enough for those who want a mix of atmosphere, adventure, puzzles and some combat. How about they explore the action angle they were doing in Other M? You could still have a large map to explore and powerups to find. Just make sure the combat isn't simple and easy to cheese like in OM. Correct me if I'm wrong as I kind of left Nintendo after the Wii, but don't their games usually have rather basic combat (minus their fighting games)? This new Metroid could remedy that, being a bit more thrilling and it would fill in the action genre hole Nintendo has.
@ryudjn65905 жыл бұрын
@@protocetid I never finished the first Prime game and thus gave up the series. Aside from having to go through the Lava area, what felt like, at least 30 times, the combat was the worst I've seen in a metroid game. You know, finding the weakpoint and then finding the right timing to attack it. EDIT: Please note that the following reply was made before the FF7 Remake released, and while the statements made hold up when it comes to the gameplay, visuals, and presentation, they did *not* age well when talking about the story: I don't think the makers of Final Fantasy 7 Remake are "ashamed of the original"; they too seem to have the mentality of, "Let's not screw this up", and they're just going about it differently. They are trying to preserve as much of the original as possible, while also giving it the massive visual overhaul it needs. Yes, they are also making gameplay changes to the combat and exploration, but the original version's combat is available as an option.

Since i'm still playing this game at the age of 27, when i was like 5 or 6 (can't remember, been so long) i can easily say i don't got the classic "nostalgia goggles" on anymore, still enjoying the game and the depth it can offer, the amount of stuff a good player can do (not just glitches but even actual tricks) I do feel that since the N64 needed this "fog" effect in some places or the limited draw distance it made the area's stand out more, with the 3D version everything is so bright and colorful (yes maybe that's accurate to the original art design but it doesn't remove the fact that the more grim looking places looked way more grim in the original compared to the remake)

OoT was on my list of games to play (because it's historic, good, etc), so I got the 3DS version. Definitely a good idea for new/old players. The biggest flaw seemed to be the lack of darkness compared to the original. The water temple boss seemed like it was in a florescent-lit indoor swimming pool, but at least that didn't really affect gameplay. It's kind of funny, despite people ranking OoT as the #1 game of all time, or calling each new Zelda game is "good but not OoT"; OoT's graphics and environment have aged pretty badly, even compared to other N64 games. Now you know what Nintendo should do, they should release a COMBINED OoT & MMask in HD for the switch. It looks like they already have the textures they need (maybe NPCs could use a little more work), and while MMask 3D's mechanics are a bit messed up, everything bad with the game is described in Nerrel's video (and fixing those things shouldn't be too hard) Nintendo just needs to watch that, heck they probably already have, since KZbin demanded I watch it for weeks.

Oh I completely agree, I love the 3D effect. I recently did my first 100% play through of Ocarina 3D and I’m just about to get the last heart piece in Majoras 3D and I absolutely loved both of them. I felt the 3D effect was done extremely well
@willwunsche6940 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I love the 3D effect, I never ever played without it basically. Admittedly now that I am an adult the effect doesn't work as well on my eyes as it did when I was a kid. It's a tiny bit misaligned when it used to be perfect. But it might be because I upgraded from an original launch 3DS bought at launch to a New 3DS XL. I could probably easily fix it if I went in the 3DS settings and calibrated the 3D though

16:33 Dude that’s you playing the piano music at the end? It sounds great! I know you probably won’t see this comment so long after this video was made but I think it should be appreciated. I’ve played the title theme before on my piano and it’s surprisingly hard to get the emotional tone (and some of the fingering) right. Well done!

@@francisthompson3772 I agree with you. I'm surprised with how many people liked it the least and say it was too long...it's never too long as long as it's not repetitive. It wasn't repetitive and there were new themes and a constant sense of fear the entire game.

Dear God the remake came out 13 years ago. I still remember my dad buying it for me as a kid at launch since he had read it was a very highly rated game online.
@wadelangner36942 ай бұрын
In 2024, the 3DS version is now as old as the original was when the 3DS version was released 🤯 It's just crazy to think about because those first 13 years saw a much greater leap in visuals, controls, mechanics, and QoL features than the last 13 years have.

It felt like getting a retro game when i got oot 3d in 2024 and this helps the feeling. Thank you
@zolanilla4 жыл бұрын
The problem with the remakes turns down to the fear developers have with making the game creepy or with more atmosphere . And actually that's what as a kid we all remember and kept us with emotional attachment because, add the feeling of reality and maturity, games are not all about being beautiful, they need bad emotions too, so you can have balance.

I will say that, if any major change happened with OoT3D's gameplay itself, adding more enemies to Hyrule Field would've been a welcome change ESPECIALLY in Master Quest

glad to see that someone else liked the 3d. i fell in love with the 3d on every game it was used in, and i fell in love with these two games aswell. it's a shame i was born in 2003 and not 1977 ish, but i guess that's part of the purpose for a remake.
@Leny17774 жыл бұрын

Its weird with these old games. I swear the original 1998 realease looked as good as the 3Ds remake back then xD But when I start up the original version now it hurts my eyes.

It hurts your eyes? That's a bit of an exaggeration don't you think? I actually think the original looks better in some ways.
@Iguana5k4 жыл бұрын
@@abstractdaddy1384 Depends on the system you play the game on. Ocarina of time on gamecube with new TV has way too sharp edges. But On an N64, with an old tv, the technical limmitations create a kinda blurry effect so you dont see each pixel of the texture and the edges are rounded.
@abstractdaddy13844 жыл бұрын
@@Iguana5k I see. Yea the last time I played it was on an old tv on the N64. But most of my opinion is based off of footage I've seen recently. I don't like the look or animations of characters and Link on the 3DS. It's too artificial or something. The whole game kind of gives a "soap opera effect" to me. The older version ironically looks more real because it's grittier and the framerate is closer to that of "old' movies (24). The backgrounds of environments do look better on the 3DS though. But then you run into situations like was pointed out in the video where some dungeons are too clean looking and totally lose the dark atmosphere.
@justinhurowitz704 жыл бұрын
Another thing about the Water Temple besides the improved signposting and lack of constant signposting is that I think it benefited the most from the glow-up it received out of all the dungeons. The effect of light reflecting off the water has been improved using so that the effect is weaker on walls further away from the water. The tiling is more detailed with gold lining marking the edges of platforms and breaking up the monotony of brick walls. The coloring is much more vibrant and the view underwater is a lot less foggy. And the hanging lanterns in the main room are a great touch. It makes the dungeon feel a lot more like an underwater sanctuary than the murky collection of hallways it was in the original. Between all the changes the Water Temple became one of my favorite dungeons in the game.

If Majora 3D had the same design outlook as OoT3D, it would've been so much better, even if it still would've been a divisive outcome.

You summed it up pretty perfectly. It really felt like I picked up where I left off on the N64. I didn't even notice how much they improved it visually due to my nostalgia goggles. It looks just as good as it did to kid me in the early 2000s. But I can really appreciate the work they did when you compare them side by side.
