javy sto You should take her seat in Congress. You’re more aware of bloated governmental spending than she is. She never mentions the current Medicare unfunded liabilities, let alone how those will dramatically increase with “Medicare for All”. “Right now, much of Medicare debt is not included in conventional debt projections on the nation’s books, and is instead counted as the program’s long-term unfunded liability, the cost of benefits that are not financed by dedicated revenues. That liability is much greater than the formal estimate of the national debt, and amounts to $37 trillion.[2] Taxpayers are expected to pick up that enormous tab.” www.heritage.org/health-care-reform/report/medicares-rising-costs-and-the-urgent-need-reform And US governmental pensions are also in the Trillions. @@StudioCluiss prior to the tax cuts, social security was safe and would be able to pay 100% of the money owed to the tax payer up to 2035. After which, considering nothing else was done, it would still have been able to maintain 80% payouts indefinitely. After the tax cuts trump and the republicans made, it will drop to 75%, but still maintains indefinitely afterwards. The math works because the older generation, assuming no cataclysmic disaster kills the younger generations, should always be smaller than the generations coming after it. Therefore, more individual people are paying into the social security net, and it is self sustaining, because older people dont just magically stick around forever, and younger people who are actually productive will recieve the benefits in return after they retire. The system will always have more money coming in than going out, thus it is self sustaining, unless Republicans treat it like their own personal piggy bank or just stop the revenue completely. The math is solid, and anyone that disagrees simply doesnt want to look at it.

@@NoNoseProduction finally someone reasonable... But the other half of the equation is that when you take our current system where insurance has a 20% budget administrative cost, and convert it all to medicare and its corresponding 2% administrative cost, you will net save money. The koch brothers funded study assumes that overall costs will rise due to additional people being added to the program and theyd be right, but 1. The overall costs are cheaper even by their right wing estimates, and 2. We were always more concerned about individual costs, because we want it to be accessible for all. Each person currently pays up front costs annually just to be on the insurance plan, then they pay an additional deductible once they need to use the service. In medicare for all, the lump sum of all expenditures is rolled into 1 tax (yeah, i said the tax word) which is less than the money youd pay in the current system. By most estimates, the tax would be between 50-65% of the current costs. and every american citizen would be able to walk into a hospital and recieve care inmediately at no additional cost. Nothing she is proposing will change how doctors treat patients, or innovate new procedures, or otherwise change their day to day responsibilities. It simply targets the many various insurance providers. They arent contributing to medical advancements or reducing the work load of doctors so why do they even need to exist if they are just legally required paperwork for companies to skim profits off the sick? Their entire purpose at creation was to make sure medical costs were managable for the customer... to basically be an alternate payment plan that doctors could trust so they didnt just have dishonest patients walk out without paying the bills. There is no other country that uses what we use. The few other examples that existed a century ago have long since transitioned to 'socialized' versions because they just solved so many problems. Its unique in history to the ol USA because we let big companies buy our politicians...

@@vn0688 There is another study that states it will cost around 40 trillion dollars for M4A. You can tell me its cheaper. It may even be so. But my issue is regressing scientific development because we want to bring the avg level of care down to everyone. Because of that there will be no budget in the US for experimental care and treatment. This may cause another nation to become to leader in this area or we'll end up in a dark age of health care and medicine. These are my thoughts regardless of the costs, it would just be a lot cheaper for us to pay for people to leave the nation for cheap all inclusive care. I'd push for this idea first. It would do two things, make workers worth more. Give our capitalist nation more people to sell to abroad. Make the middle class grow because there are less poor people taking up federal dollars. THis is to me the best decision to make everyone's dreams come true. Ofc it's undemocratic, so people would need to opt in. How VT is giving people I think 10k to move to their state. Similar concept. We pay them to leave.

The reasons colleges were and some still are viewed as higher education was that people are paying directly for an education kind of like a private school. That is why 20-30 years ago you had to be the smartest and be able to afford college. Due to a host of reasons most BA's no longer carry any weight, and have become useless, in CA don't some restaurants require a BA to be a waiter? Why? Waiting is an entry level job, Oh I forgot we have over inflated the higher education systems with worthless degrees like gender studies. Australia has national healthcare insurance. We pay a 2% national healthcare levy to fund our public system. However, this only pays for about 85% of expenses. The federal government covers the other 15% with federal non-tax revenue. Our system isn't perfect, but what it lacks in capability is made up for by cooperative subsidization of the private sector. We're proof that socialized medicine _is_ a viable idea. But we're also proof of what need to be done to make it so. The first step has always been to integrate private companies into a national subsidy scheme which will lessen the need for insurance companies by dealing directly with the institution of your choice. Hell, the only thing our Medicare system doesn't cover is dental, but that's covered by an independent subsidy scheme to reduce the effective costs on the recipient while ensuring that practitioners are paid in full. Australia's system works because we allow it to work and we contribute to national healthcare just the same as we do to national infrastructure, education, defense and transport.

Matt Loney Actually, Proctor is right. Unregulated health services tend to be more affordable due to there not being a government set price. That's why, as Shapiro puts it, that "Most Doctors nowadays follow the ROAD path (Radiology, Optometry, Anesthesiology, Dermatology) because they're unregulated and carry free market competition." This means that, like what happened with the declining price of Lasik eye surgery, prices go down for more accessibility to consumers yet the skill level of the operators remain the same or even increase because of the increasing number of competitors. This incentivizes doctors to pursue these unregulated areas of the industry and also encourages them to be more skilled at their craft because it's a more competitive industry when it's unregulated; prices are lower however the business is more profitable because more people are able to partake in the product. Cheers!
@X7Maverick5 жыл бұрын
Matt Loney are you saying it’s okay to make people wait longer than 2 1/2 years to surgically treat their conditions if it’s not life threatening? Never mind the fact I was at 60% hearing, deafness isn’t a real issue for people. I wouldn’t care if I could have paid for my surgery and had it faster but that is literally illegal in Canada. So don’t lecture me on your care for others when you could give less of a fuck about people going deaf because it’s not “life threatening”
@micahsilverstein5 жыл бұрын
Matt Loney I do agree that Canada's healthcare system is beneficial for basic healthcare needs. However, less pressing regulation of basic healthcare is a positive alternative. Malpractice is statistically more common amongst practices classified under basic medical care in the United States. As I previously wrote, if the market is faced under less regulation, the industry will become more competitive with the lowest prices and highest skilled doctors being the most successful whilst people aren't having to take out another mortgage in order to pay for it. Although, as aforementioned, Canada's use of healthcare for basic necessities is undoubtedly a worthy use of their healthcare system.

He keeps promises that he makes (which is almost unheard of), almost all of his policies and reformations are good ideas that benefit the people of the USA. Then I see this video saying Cortez and her explanations of her ideas are "insane" Her explanation on the Healthcare system is exactly how the public healthcare system in my country works. It DOES work, thus I must conclude that her opinion on that is in fact, not insane at all on that matter. The education system idea is a big step and not a great idea unless you restrict it to courses that your nation has a specific, government recognized shortage of - then it becomes a good idea in general. Though how it would be implemented is a much more nuanced matter. I hear a lot about how this person or that person is a complete nutbag communist and I think "99% chance of accuracy, just look how they behave" Then a video like this comes along and I start to think that maybe my side is taking some MASSIVE liberties in how they portray people that they don't agree with. To call it disappointing is an understatement. I'm a little worried that maybe I've been acting with the leftist mentality of just believing what my media says and this video is giving me a reality check. In no way did she fail to explain how it would be paid for. It looks like Daily Wire is feeding spin to it's viewers instead of applying a more objective approach.

Like how she got into office without the wealth elites permission?

I imagine her entire career will consist of aides telling her "no, you can't do that".

I'm Canadian. I've heard this before with Justin Trudeau. He thinks buget will balance itself.

I am Canadian too. Thank you for reminding me of this. Yes he did actually say on video "and the budget will balance itself" after explaining his spending plans. I didn't vote in that election because I was fed up with politics in general but man I won't make that mistake again.

I think what she means by making health care free is just to restructure the American healthcare system to something like the Australian or British or Canadian system - all of which are actually cheaper. The American healthcare system is more expensive and less effective, most countries with free health care have a health care budget of around 10% (e.g. UK 9.8% & Australia 10%), of the GDP whereas America has one around 17% of the GDP. It also is less effective at covering the population providing adequate quality cover.

🤨 *My parents are both grade school teachers and they've had to buy many of their teaching supplies and even some of their student's supplies out of pocket every school year since I can remember, because the state owes the schools hundreds of thousands of dollars that it just can't afford to pay. This chick may want to step off of her daydream cloud and come down into reality sometime. At least she's not still trying to answer that question with "We can cut the military budget by millions of dollars".* 🙄 😑

"Why do we have to pay rent when the apartments already exist? They're right there, they're not going anywhere... just move in! And why do we have to pay for food when it's right there sitting on store shelves? Duh! I'm telling you guys, these business owners are TOTALLY ripping you off... charging you money for things they already have just sitting around!"

Obamacare is already abused by people/immigrants to have more kids to get more freebies from the government and they live better than the working tax paying people. Medicare/college will just encourage more people to come to the US to live off of the tax paying people. What happened to work for a living? The government is not to support you long term.

We need a two tier tax system. Lefty’s should pay twice the rate of the rest of us to pay for their giveaways.
