It's just a funny old folk, for Christ's sake... Political Correctness had not even been imagined way back whenever this song was created. It's part of the regional folk culture and the folk history cannot be rewritten to please modern politicalky correct tastes. It just is what it is and a nation can choose to either destroy such unpalatable folk culture, like Australians do with theirs here that is politically incorrect. Or simply accept it, though with a grain of salt, probably needs a few extra grains, though, I think, because it can be pretty disgusting, sometimes. However, it's best to try and retain such aspects of national culture we find repugnant by our modern cultural values and ethics because, otherwise, we have no cultural traditions or past. If the politically correct feminists etc seek to destroy and rewrite a nation's cultural history to make it seem nicer, we end up like totalitarian regimes eg Communist Russia, where they decided to rewrite their history to favour the ruling Communist regime. You have to accept the past, but learn from it's ugliness sand mistakes, like in this folk song where the obvious lesson is self evident. Wrong to try and take sexual advantage of as disabled girl. Though, when the song was written, it was considered a joke and I used to hear this song even sung in bars by drunken immigrant men, including my own father and other family men, but only in a spirit of fun, not malice. Nobody got offended by it. Not even mother's with disabled kids, of which we had one with a child with Downs Syndrome, who was Australia but she knew the meaning of the songbecause she liked it and we translated it for her. She loved it. It relieved her stress as a mother of a severely disabled child and she just laughed and laughed and poured a other beer to drink as and forget her woes as she wiped her grown disabled child's runny nose. It hurt nobody. Though the Italian women got sick of husbands carousing around singing stupid songs when they wanting themdoing useful jobs around the yard. You just cannot be judgeing the cultural expression of previous generations or even the previous decade, by the cultural values of today eg feminism and political correctness,when it did not exist back then. So how could they be politiclly correct? If they had no idea what it even meant back then? That, to me, is the biggest time modern feminists commit. Judgeing what happened in a different era by the values and standards of this current era. Eg hauling meninto court for allegations of some minor sexual annoyance that may have happened Fifty years ago, when such behaviour was considered normal and nobody thought anything of it. Entire sections of Australia's cultural past has been destroyed by such feminist political correctness. Can you imagine if Italians decided everything about Leonardo DaVinci, Galileo or any great historical figure had to be pulled down, suppressed, never taught in schools or exhibited in public places? Just because some female discoveredsuch men touched another female "inappropriately", which I reckon old Leonardo probably would have? To get enough knowedge about woman to be inspired to paint Mona Lisa, some peasant girl he is reputed to have fancied? It couldn't happen anywhere else. But, believe it or not, this is the sort of craziness that feminism in politically correct Australia does They judged a prominent, icon Aussie male artist's creative work by his sexual behaviour of about 40 years ago and got him jailed and rippeddown all public recognition plaques etc previously put upby other generations to honour him. How crazy is that? It would not be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the culture these Aussie deranged feminists attack and destroy it not just their culture. It is also OUR culture we want to conserve, even if it is displeasing in some ways. They are now also attacking the contribution of previous generations of great feminists, for Christ's sake!Because it's not their current form of millenials' style feminism. Unreal! I suppose they will tell us that Aussie folk songs like Wild Colonial Boy have to go, too because this wild boy was his mother's pride and joy and she should not value boys, only daughters? What next?They already complain about too many men and no womenintraditional colonial Aussie folk music and culture. But how can there be, if the convicts on the prison ships were almost always men? Though some songs, like "Bound For South Australia" and "Black Velvet Band"do mention the girls these convicts loved and missed.... Imagine if the feminists destroyed a tht culture? There would be no cultural history left for future generations. Just endless politically correct feminist bullshit about how they put some petty mle sexual toucher, leerer or whatever injail for offendingtheir delicate though hardly pristine non existent female virtue. If people say they have never heard this old folk song, it could be because it had been "culturally suppressed",by political correctness, which I hear is spreading faster than coronavirus in Italy but Isa much deadlier "cultural virus" because it actually kills national or regional cultural identity, that sense of "where we come from" that makes us the people we are now, shaped by previous generations before us input various nation's, regions etc.This highly toxic Culture Virus, must be destroyed with a powerful anti venom to neutralise things like out of control, destructive feminism. But that is not license to return to the Good Old Days because, as we all know, these were not so good. Not in Australia's very bloody ugly history and certainly not in Italy's, either which was not like Mussolini, Hitler and NAZI mates had the public believe ie all h our, glory, perfect Aryan race etc. It was downright bloody and awful, all those mediaval battles, all those castles in Abbruzzi. They were not built to decorate the mountains. They were for wars and defence etc. All this history of nations may be ugly and shameful even but it cannot be erased. We must own it and learn from it. No need to be proud of it. Just on and accept it and seek to learn from it. I like one modern Italian folk song I heard that made me laugh. Somethin g about "Crap Everywhere" .It deserves all the pretty scenery, happy singing people and culture etc there, all the usual promotional stuff and then the tra ll chorus bitcomes in about "shit everywhere",which is probably how it would have been in those filthy old castles with no sewerage or tap water, showers, electricity etc. Same here in Australia in the bush. They just talk about the nice stuff, never the full reality. Ned Kelly was a bad criminal in our history, but they make him look like a hero . Koala bears look cute, but nobody tells tourists theycarry sexual diseases like Chlamydia and will piss onyou if you walk under their tree. There's shit everywhere, but they only talk about the good stuff they want noticed, not the other stuff. That is how feminism and political correctness manipulates various types of media eg music,to try to force their own world view on those of us who reject it and want to think for ourselves and form our own, not be told by them how to think or see things.So, if you like this controversy arousing politically incorrect old folk song,enjoy it. I think the video was very well made. There acting, the scenery, the photography etc. Though I obviously don't agree with what the "action"is all about. Still, it is amusing and, if we can't laugh about some tragic things, like disability and trying to find love, like in this video, then we cry... Enjoy. And to hell with political correctness. It's only a fun old folk song on a fun video, after all.

Probably a poor decent widow pleased to know there was a lonely bachelor seeking love who fancied her disabled daughter, despite her glass eye and orthotic leg. A strange old folk song about disabled people and love. And people think this is only a recent issue. It must have existed even wy back in history. This is the only song from any culture or era I have ever seen that explores this disable love theme. It is so controversial, which is probably why some, who can understand the words, find this song so repugnant. I shouldn't imagine it will be listed a one of the folkloric cultural musical sons of this scenic region rich in mediaval history etc, to lure politically correct rich millennial tourists to visit his great region.But, it is still an undeniable part of the region's musical folklore culture.
