One thing I forgot to mention is that the leather bags are quieter as they smoothly slide against your pant leg, where the nylon is louder and rougher. Especially against canvas work pants like Dickies, etc. Not a big deal but a difference.

I used the all leather Setup with suspenders for about 4 years. Had shoulder surgery last year and don’t wear suspenders anymore so I switched to the oxy light adjust a fit and boy is it way more comfortable! The leather is definitely cooler and likely will last longer, but the comfort level of the nylon adjust to fit just can’t be beat.
@Livinoutdoors_2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the surgery. But did you have to get surgery due to the fact that you used the suspenders ?? I’m at the point where my bags sag a lot past my hips. I don’t have hips .. so it’s getting annoying. Thinking of getting either Occidental’s suspenders or the Occidental hip buddies , any tips ? Thanks

I had nylon bags they were great and light till they got wet (Canadian carpenter) they would fill with snow and extremely heavy and were rusting away any tools that would stay in the bag. Aswell as them ripping quite easily so i made the switch to leather and no rips and snow doesn't absorb into the bags nearly as easy so ill take the half pound of weight and get the extra durabilty

As a carpenter I have gone where the money is, I know a lot of carpenters who have worked many years in the south with leather tool bags and have worked well for them. I have worked in places with lots of rain lots of snow and lots of heat. Leather gets very heavy and takes a long time to dry out when wet. Take in consideration if you work in wet environments.

With leather you can get tape holder riveted to fastener bag with speed square slot. I think they call that a RH bag. In leather/nylon, i couldnt find it in that configuration. So, i just drill rivets, cut stitching and remove small upper bag. Then re rivet tape holder where small upper bag was on fastener bag. Im right handed, so pencil on right, tape on left. I also rivet bags to belt so they wont slide on belt.

My guess would be the leather, but I'd also guess you'll be able to hand either set off to your kid if you treat them decent. That said, the warranty is two years on both but leather owners are afforded an additional stitch and rivet repair service for life. Not sure if that service is free but it's listed under the warranty section so...

I had that exact set up with the nylon and I loved the lay out! But I hated when I took it off because all my tools would fall out and the pouch would fly off the belt! So I spent like 5 mins after break picking up my tools and reassemble my bags and suspenders on to the belt! 😔
@lunygrim56532 жыл бұрын
Just poke a whole thru it and put a zip tie or small wire thru the bag and belt. Just set it in place where the comfort is at. I thought it was bs too when they mention it’ll fly out lol. Until they told me to do that. And it’s been 2 yrs now and no problems

I have never had good success with nylon bags when I set them down. If I was not careful the nails would fall out. The leather tends to close and so the nails don't fall out.
