Otto's Dionysos book is great...I read it back in the early '00s when I was still working on my dissertation, and it proved useful both academically and in the varied spiritual researches and practices that I was doing then, and have continued with now. The text and the footnotes both contain absolute gems! :) I was "cautioned" by my doctoral advisor that Otto "actually believes in the Gods" (the advisor wouldn't have capitalized "Gods," but I'm the one writing here, and I do!), and I wondered what the problem was at the time...and still do, as there's nothing in the text itself which states that the author does, or which such knowledge would undermine in what Otto writes at all. The biases of those who point out the biases of others as if they invalidate what they have to say about a subject absolutely baffles me....

There is no one I trust more than this channel for book recommendations. I cant say this enough: you do our community such a huge, immeasurable service Denis. This is so niche and otherwise untenable for so many of us; having your weekly book updates keep those of us out of the loop informed and point us where to go. THANK YOU! As an aside, would you consider doing a video about your results with the Thelema Mundi set, if any? ❤

I appreciate the reviews of the news (better known as all the videos popping up with red tags in my feed) from the elevated perspective. It brings me down off the ceiling immediately. Unfortunately, some of us literally feel the energy of upheaval rolling off the events/populace in waves - so providing us with perspective is immensely helpful. It also keeps us up to date in a different way - seeing people who don't appear hooman that I've never seen before - who weren't there 2 days ago on the same broadcast - makes it the real real. I don't need to go down rabbit holes from 30 years ago anymore - the rabbit holes of last week and yesterday are just as telling.

Alan Oken's 'Complete Astrology' is one of the best introductions to astrology I would recommend. Such a well written book that takes you from the basics to the advanced in each section, with beautiful quotes from ancient texts, the signs, houses, interpretation of aspects, how to read a chart and so forth. A book that is suggested by many great astrologers.

Thanks again for your help and effort ❤ I can highly recommend the TERRA VOLATILE deck and book! The love for symbolism and details that went into the deck is endless. The description of the individual cards are comprehensive and very well thought out. And the artwork is just astonishing! All in all a real enrichment. Plus, the people behind this project are real diamonds too 😊

The Magical Art is exciting. If JSK's Geosophia is republished within the year, it will be the most important event this year. BLP's The Discoverie of Witchcraft is also worth looking forward to

Hi ! Have you reviewed Lexicon Lamiarum ? Haven’t found any reviews about it and it’s quite expensive, and it’s releasing 29 October in Amazon at least . Thank you ! Greetings from Chile

I sadly felt the same when I read it yesterday. In the intro the author even says he had to edit as he had much more. There are probably gems in there but I couldn't keep my focus for long.
@FoolishFishBooksАй бұрын
SO disappointing! Yes, putting one's unedited thoughts in the form of a dialogue doesn't make one's text more accessible. Of all the books I received this month, this was the one I was SURE I would love 😭

Very interesting, especially the book about Baphomet! The link to "Insatiable Desires Written in Blood" doesnt work? I can´t reach the shop at all, so it seem like there is some problem with their site?
@FoolishFishBooksАй бұрын
Yes, there does seem to be an issue with it. I've linked the Etsy store instead: www.etsy.com/listing/1462547265/insatiable-desires-written-in-blood-by

I'm curious, what are the handful of poems you like?
@FoolishFishBooksАй бұрын
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, Ozymandias by Percy Shelly, and, maybe surprisingly, the majority of the poems by A. A. Milne on account of his impeccable meter, mastery of language and insight into humanity 🤷♂️

Dunno, Denis… Not to be contrarian, but the blurb from Iain McGilchrist on the back of the DBH book makes me think the book requires a deeper push. Considering McGilchrist is quite possibly one of the most important thinkers alive today, I’ll likely give this book a shot at some point. Some books are just supposed to be harder than others.
@FoolishFishBooksАй бұрын
Yeah, thing is, I already agree with the author. I ain't putting an hour's work per page into a 500 page book just to confirm that a guy believes the same thing as me 🤷♂️

How do I get a book to you?
@FoolishFishBooksАй бұрын
I'm afraid it's not Liber Mysteriorum Quinque or Summa Sacre Magice, or the Folio Society's Orange Fairy book or you're not a publisher I feature regularly, then you probably don't (very occasional exceptions for new publishers with visibly extraordinary material like Aula Lucis) 🙇♂️🙏 but you can always mention your book here, and if I like what I see and also think my viewers would like it, then I'm always happy to feature new books in the news videos!
