That armeg hole saw kit it's great, but I only tend to use it if I need a Friday job to end quickly....I'm always paranoid when drilling through joists, you just never know where/how stuff is clipped...I always prefer to cut the board and lift it About 4 years ago my apprentice went straight through a gas pipe......never shit myself so much in all my life. Keep up the good work, and Kasper will learn many great things from you I'm sure

Nice vid Ryan! That looks like a fiddly old job, Especially with the clients still living there! I love those flooring cutters they are ace!
@RDavisElectrical2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ed. Yeah these jobs can be a bit of a pain, this is one of the better ones I’ve done tbh, apart from the floor of course

I like to watch then relish that I only do industrial electrical work , safe that I never have to encounter chip board floors and carpet 😀

Fair play, occupied rewires are never easy, and chipboard sucks when you’re an electrician 😂 Had the armeg hole saw kit for years…..would cry if I had to use that many plugs though lol, circular saw would definitely have sped things up a bit for you…..pipes are a gamble though! Love your attitude to the job 👍🏼

Love the vid. Think I'd have to pilot hole and coat hanger before going through with the board cutter

Hi Ryan another top video I’ve been back in hospital so I am catching up on your videos which is good them floors are a bit of work when drilling out the holes I found it best to just start of with the hole saw and then remove the centre drill and then carry on so not to hit any cables below not saying it will work every time but cautious as we go, all the best to the both of you and be safe. Woodyx

How tech has progressed, I used to open up an old metal coat hanger bash down the hook and tape it to a length of oval tube or plastic trunking lid made good fishing rods

Bought that super rod mega set the other week. Sooo good! It didn’t come with the sock end tho👎🏻. Id probably of skill saw’d the chip board up.
@RDavisElectrical2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s quality, you have to get the sock separate😩. Should’ve done tbh 😂

Greetings guys. Since you are rewiring the house why are you still running ring circuits.

Once you drilled the holes using the whole saw, did you drill at an angle into the joists with a wood bit?
@RDavisElectrical2 жыл бұрын
No, managed to get the drill through the hole and drill it like that 😅

That Metabo seem like it was playing up a bit drilling that hole? I may be wrong, are you pleased with Metabo do you rate them? I'm deciding between Metabo and Milwaukee
@RDavisElectrical2 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t playing up mate, it was just me trying to put too much weight on it instead of letting that drill so the work. You can’t go wrong with Metabo mate 👍🏻
@mikethemask15252 жыл бұрын
@@RDavisElectrical oh ok sound as, yeah looking at it I think milwaukee has more tool options but I've always been a fan of Metabo I think I got my answer 👍

How are those plastic caps to walk on afterwards? Like when the carpet is back down, would you feel the cap if you walked over it?
@RDavisElectrical2 жыл бұрын
Completely flush with the floor, also about 8mm thick so you can easily stand on them 👍🏻
@rodgerq2 жыл бұрын
@@RDavisElectrical cheers mate. We live in a house with chipboard and at some point it's going to need a rewire, still on old colours and a plastic board. I guess the holes are the easiest way, that's why I was asking.

Why not just rip the chipboard with a circular down 2 lengths? Make a new 'floorboard' to lift! Would've taken half the time.... Great vid though!
