As always, another great Test Video, Capt. Steve. You're the best! I've been watching your videos for over 11yrs, and there isn't anyone doing this that does it better than you. Sincerely, thank you.

Not that important but they are twin V12 1650hp, not V10s. A great detailed review. Thank you captain.

I want to know if you can spec smaller engines for a longer range? What would the range be if you shut off 1 engine once you get up to desired speed? True explorer yachts should achieve longer range than 1250 nm.

Great Mechanical/Operations Video, might want to bump-up the livability and comfort aspects.

I was expecting this boat to go farther than 1200+ at 8 knot.

It's an amazing boat.. but surprised she has short legs. I would expect at least 2k nautical (@10kt) with such a big boat

Gorgeous boat. I like it but the range to me is a dealbreaker for me. If I am an explorer I need a boat with enough range to get me from the west coast to Hawaii
@scottlomas55093 жыл бұрын
So if you dropped the speed back to 6 knots what would the range be then?
@sgt.pepper42743 жыл бұрын
Probably further. lol But there comes a point where the engines need a certain amount of load to continue to operate as intended. Generally speaking, if you are running your marine engine's rpm really low, you need to blow it out (run the engine(s) at near full capacity) every 24hrs for an hour.
@darthkek19533 жыл бұрын
Could easily double that And of course if you wanted more range just put more tanks on.
@darthkek19533 жыл бұрын
@@sgt.pepper4274 Yes, unless they're designed to cruise at trawling speeds. That's why a lot of long-distance owner-operator boats kind of top out at 12 knots, though there are exceptions (literally: Fast Trawlers).

Make an even bigger one already incredibly. "Way overboard on the electrical systems" is I think creating a rush to market for these items as the revolutionary Tesla Model S starts to have an impact well beyond just the car market. Still this is all light years ahead of what's going on in the US RV market at the moment...a market that happens to be booming relentlessly going on forever now ironically enough. This new Lucid Air is a truly amazing throw down to what this future is indeed "now is" if that makes sense. Common rail two stroke engines are only now hitting the US consumer tractor market for Kubota, John Deere etc now putting out well in excess of 100 horsepower which in a diesel tractor is an awesome amount of both power and efficiency...in a shockingly small amount of space. Suffice to say "no need for a crew quarters with engines that small as the ICE Platform main power units" with this of course excluding all being used to power a high capacity lithium ion battery and a bank of solar panels ... ten thousand miles on a hundred gallons of diesel fuel sounds about right to me at the moment anyways. Depending on how good those solar panels are that ship could really move too...getting up on plane almost instantly and sustaining speeds of 10-12 knots maybe even twice that depending on hull design and proper outfitting ("all the weight to the batteries and as ballast.") A powered catamaran could be even more spectacular...80 knots top end for "just a mere sport cruiser" not out of the question at the moment imo. "All whilst holding back a ten percent reserve" absolutely..

This is a beautiful and very specious yacht for sure but, it's a rather very nice 'concept' yacht, and not a true explorer! It's like a Merc M class, and not a G Wagon! More range, more hardware and certainly another crew cabin is needed in my opinion, especially if you will charter as mentioned in the features video.
