I am an American who was married to a Saffer and lived in SA. Such a beautiful area. I drove the Garden Route back in 2018 and was able to see these breaks and enjoy the area, and I went to J Bay a couple times! Was a dream come true.

No apologies required Trev, you're still out there having a dig and enjoying it with your mates. That's what it's all about. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.🤙

Used to surf Vic as a local back in the day. This video brought back some memories. I can remember the days when the point would easily hold swell 8-10 foot that ran down past the pier. Then a massive storm in the early 2000's washed all the sand around to Kaaimans. The restaurant owner brought in truck loads of sand and messed the wave up especially when the sand that initially washed around the bay made it's way back again. Vic was never the same since. I left George around 2013. I've had some good memories and epic waves back in the day. Thanks for posting.

@@IamANDYL I had to endure some heavy localism to earn my spot on the lineup, but finally made it. I suppose my surfing made the decision for me. 😂 Riding waves with guys like Sean Holmes, Stephen Hair, Leonard Giles, David Pfaff, Robert Pollock and many others was intimidating at first but once I got accepted there was nowhere like it. Sadly life moved on but I cherish those memories.

@@kvanniekerk3792 they were all super mellow actually. Unless you didn't have any etiquette :)

@@IamANDYL 100% I got taught some manners early on when I started out riding waves up the point. I got humbled quickly, but in a very appropriate manner. Had my biggest barrel I surfed at Vic after Len Giles didn't take priority. We were sitting on the boil behind the take off spot - you know the one - and turned, gave one stroke and took off straight into a rather large cavern that just kept on rolling down the point. I will never forget that wave. I can still see it now all these years later.
