Another great location ! so clear there, is this normal ?
@OceanEarthGreen3 жыл бұрын
no it's not. This clear is rare, only a couple weeks out of the year if lucky.

is this close enough to the beach to just swim straight there? Is it like this all around malago cove or do i have to go to a specific spot? I’ve been looking for spots to snorkel in LA and this seems perfect
@OceanEarthGreen4 жыл бұрын
easiest place to snorkel from is Rat Beach. You can enter from sandy beach area and there is parking lot above with easy trail down. There is lots to see, just follow the cliffs and stay close to the rocks. if you stay within 5' to 9' depth areas, you'll see lots of fish and plants.

there are lot's of other areas also but they are much harder to access and the terrain is rougher. but if interested, let me know and I can let you know some more good spots that come with higher risk.

@@OceanEarthGreen sweet! I'll be heading out there next week! Any tips on diving in that area?
@OceanEarthGreen2 жыл бұрын
@@berkandneon Depend on how you plan on diving the area, by Freediving or Scuba. The easiest entry is from Paseo Del Mar / Via Arroyo public parking lot which is on the cliffs overlooking Rat Beach. It's free parking and there is an easy flat trail down to the beach. However, from the beach to the beginning of the cliffs is a good150 yard swim through the waves and current. Not to hard for freediving, might not be doable for scuba. The other entry is from Flat Rock Point. There is free parking along the road up on the cliff. There is also a trail down the cliffs which is a bit challenging. The entry is from shore reef thick with kelp which is also challenging. not sure if it's doable with scuba gear. There is more to see quicker from flat rock point going towards rat beach and back but it's a harder hike down and entry.
