We have used Oceania and Regent both multiple times. Oceania has significant extra costs. Regent includes gratuities; Oceania asks for about $32 to $46 (depending on room type) per couple per day, payable at the end of the cruise. Regent includes all drinks; Oceania charges $60 per couple per day for the full drinks package. Regent’s included excursion list is extensive; it would cost a LOT to duplicate those on Oceania. Regent’s staterooms are WAY larger than Oceania’s. Both of these cruise lines are excellent-we are happy with both-but be sure to take into account the added costs on Oceania when comparing these two lines. We think that the food on both is comparable, the atmosphere is similar, the experience is similar. Except that the three newest Regent ships are over-the-top physically luxurious. Taking into account the cost adjustments above, if the overall cost is close, go with Regent. If Oceania is a lot less $, go with them.

Oceania is definitely not as all inclusive as Oceania, so it pays to line up both side by side to see what the final number is on your out of pocket expense. As to the ships check out our review of the Vista. We think Oceania is catching up fast in that regard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnnTmKqlqMeKeJI

My wife and I are going on Oceania and there newest ship Vista for the first time on December 30th for 10 days to the Caribbean in one of there Penthouse suites on deck 11 midship. We went on Celebrity Equinox back in October for the first time and we enjoyed a premium line. In the past we only have sailed Norwegian Windword 1993 Carnival Glory 2003 and Norwegian Escape in 2017. This is the most money we have spent on a cruise but we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We did compare Oceania and Regent and Oceania was less. We did however wanted to try a deluxe line to see how it compares say to a premium line before going ultra luxury but Regent is a line we are looking at in the not so far future. Thank you for your compassion of both lines.

Regent all inclusive except for the Spa treatments. I have been on The Navigator up the Amazon which needed a smaller ship. The food on every Regent ship I have been on is fantastic

This year we sailed on Oceania Riviera twice for a total of 33 days. We absolutely love the overall experience on Oceania. The food and service is extraordinary and the cabins are luxurious. We now regard Oceania as our second home. We have 3 more cruises booked on Oceania over the next 18 months.

My wife and I are sailing on Oceania Vista for the first time very soon on there December 30th 10 day sailing to the southern Caribbean to ring in 2024. We are excited about a more deluxe/ luxury experience in one of there PH1 Penthouse suites on deck 11 midship. We recently sailed on Celebrity Equinox for the first time in October and it was very good! Definitely a more premium experience with service, entertainment and food vs our past experiences on Norwegian twice with Windword 1993 and Escape in 2017 and Carnival Glory in 2003. If our experience on Oceania is what we hope for and expect for the dollars spent i could see us sailing Regent as well. Thank you for this topic and information.

Enjoying your videos. Please clarify the "Restricted Business Class" for Regent. Is it business class or ??? Thanks!
@askarealtravelexpert7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. Restricted business class air is business class on the intercontinental portions of the flight only. All other portions of the flight would be in economy class. So it's worthwhile to confirm that with your travel expert prior to booking if that is a concern.

So what is the best **value** between the 2 cruise lines? We have 2 Regent cruises set up next 14 months but we are open to trying Oceanna if the overall value (no nickel and diming) is there too.
@askarealtravelexpert Жыл бұрын
Regent is definitely more all inclusive but Oceania has really stepped up their product with these new ships. They are a good value and no onboard nickel and diming but they do not include as much as Regent and the lead in pricing reflects that.

My Regent cruise has 2 days at each port. That means on the first day in port you can do a twilight cruise and not worry about getting back. You don’t worry about missing the trip because the first 2 days are at the same port. At the end, you don’t have to worry about getting back to port on time because you get there the day before. I am seeing what a great advantage it is to have fewer ports, but more time at each.

One thing I've always wondered about is why cruise companies don't have a cross-brand loyalty program even among sister companies. Oceania & Regent a perfect examples - both are owned by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (along with the eponymous Norwegian line). With modifications for relative spend, one could see value in having a "family" brand loyalty program among these three distinct lines. For example, we'd consider taking our grandkids on a Norwegian sailing, but not a Regent sailing. [Before the "yeah but" responses begin, yes, I've seen kids on Regent sailings & have heard it's more common in Alaska sailings, but elsewhere we've sailed with Regent - five cruises in the past two years (Europe, Asia & Panama Canal) - we observed maybe three kids under 18 maximum per each of the five sailings and there is literally nothing uniquely kid-friendly on those non-AK sailings; so no, count me out for a multi-generational sailing with Regent beyond Alaska.] Have you heard of any other cruise "families" like Royal Carib or Carnival which each own multiple lines considering such broadening of their loyalty programs?
@askarealtravelexpert11 ай бұрын
That is an excellent question. I know that you used to be able to carry your Celebrity points to Azamara when RCI owned Azamara not sure that carried over to Silversea. I do know that even though some lines are held under the one holding company that they all operate independently of each other with separate management teams and offices in different parts of the country or even the world. Let me check with our management contacts at some of the lines.

On Regent, the best shore excursions cost extra, but not as much if you booked separately from an independent company.

I don’t see the attraction of cooking classes. I am a good cook but I can watch videos to learn new skills. I only signed up for a cooking class because it was an excursion to a beautiful place and it was at my activity level.

My experience would be that Regent’s only edge over Oceania would be their entertainment but this would not persuade me to sail with Regent again. Oceania has it over Regent by light years.

Going on Regent in a couple weeks, I really like the ALL inclusive of Regent. This comparison sounds to me like I should stick to Regent for the all inclusive, Oceania is back to making deals and packages.

Oceania trademarked "best food at sea" but that doesn't mean it actually is. We found it spotty & many traveled Oceania passengers thought that it had been better in the past. Their lunches were pretty basic. Regent & Seabourn were a bit better, in my opinion, but it's still v. good. Regent also has wonderful cooking classes. We were on the Vista & the entertainment at nite was in one venue which seated 500 & the ship had 1200 passengers! Truthfully, the most elaborate entertainment is on the v. huge ships. We've met fab people on both lines.

(not related to any of the lines here) I want to add a very important point; As agents please be honest and clear to your clients. Clarify the sodas included (on most cruise lines) they are mostly from the fountain NOT from a can. Also the Internet 🫨 so sick when some ppl complain about it (we R sailing in the middle of nowhere,floating on water please, don't be ridiculous). And the same about noise, really, if you are so sensitive, don't sail, the rest of us don't have to suffer the frustrations of your sleep. It is part of the experience, if you are not willing, do not travel.
@askarealtravelexpert10 ай бұрын
We agree with all your points. Clear communication with your travel advisor is key. And as for folks complaining about this and that, some folks do have legitimate issues from time to time which need to be addressed. But others just seem to look for issues when on vacation and we feel sorry for those folks.

The average size of these two lines ships are very similar but Regent carries far less passengers. If you like to smoke a cigar after dinner you have to go outside on Oceania as Regent has a cigar room Oceania doesn’t a plus for some ?.Oceania has 2 ships of 66,000 GRT and 4 Ships x R lines Fleet ships at 30,000 GRT . Regent has one ship at 29,000 GRT SS Navigator 1 at 42,000 GRT SS Voyager 1 at 48,000GRT SS Mariner and three newer ships at 55,000 GRT so size wise , you can travel on Oceania on 4 small ships or two larger ones very different ships.On Regent the Original 2 ships are bigger and the three newest ships are a bit smaller than the two new Oceania ships.Regent ships carry far less people and are more inclusive , I’ve traveled on both , more Regent and I personally prefer the food on Regent .I’ve done well over 100 cruises as a full fare paying passenger nothing to do with the industry or travel business but love cruising and ships and have cruised since the fifties on so many ships .

I’ve sailed three times on Regent and twice on Oceania (all on different ships) and I’ve come to the conclusion that the Regent experience is better. Regent’s all-inclusive really is that. Once you make your final payment, you’ve paid for all your tips, all your drinks, all your shore excursions (except as noted the super expensive ones). Unless you patronize the boutiques, the spa or the casino, your final statement is zero. The atmosphere on Regent is country club casual without being stuffy, and the staterooms are much more comfortable. On Oceania, if you want to fly business class, there is an up charge. If you want a beverage package, there is an up charge. On board a beer is $7 and a mixed drink around $14. If you want to go on more excursions than the package covers (usually 10 or 12), you pay again. I found the food to be comparably exceptional, with the edge to Regent, since I found the Oceania Grand Dining Room food on Riviera to be overly adventurous. In the future, if the itineraries were similar, I will go with Regent since I like to know it’s all taken care of.

Just back from a cruise on the new Regent Grandeur, ship lovely, crew and staff lovely but will never do it again. Food average, wine great if you don’t mind 2023 wines and we still gave gratuities to the cabin staff. No guaranteed restaurant seating unless you book speciality restaurants (one booking in each of the three per cruise). Suites very average. Not a patch on Cunard Queens grill - guaranteed seating, food amazing much better suite for the price and the buffet has much more choice. Won’t be doing it again
