As a solo, senior traveler, I subscribed. I wanted to find a more casual cruising experience (Silversea was just not my cup of tea) and love eating, so Oceania seems a good choice for cruising in the new year. So, as a solo traveler you never dined in any of the specialty restaurants? Did you ever use room service? Are there any 24-hour dining options? You know, for those 3am cravings and you want to stretch your legs…

All good questions! Yes, I was able to book two fine dining experiences. At the beginning of the cruise, there was a solo traveler meet up and I met several solo travelers, so ended up eating with them at the specialty restaurants. There are two fine dining restaurants: Toscana (Italian food) and Polo Grill (steak house). Both were great service and wonderfully presented food. There was also the Grand Dining Room, which was lovely and didn't require reservations. They invited all the solo travelers to the Grand Dining Room a couple times for an elegant sit down meal. However, I actually enjoyed the buffet the most. I have some food allergies, so it was easier for me to pick and choose there. And the food was fabulous. I loved being able to sample so many different items in one meal. The desserts always had several choices each meal and I'll admit to trying more than one each time! I didn't use room service that I recall, because the buffet worked well for me. There are a couple places where there were often pastries and cookies laid out, but I wouldn't say it was 24 hours. However, you could probably grab some items earlier in the day and keep them in your room. I did feel comfortable in my casual clothes, although people did tend to dress for dinner in the fine dining restaurants. Let me know if you have other questions and thanks for subscribing. Cheers!

@ - Thank you kindly for the prompt and thoughtful response. It sounds like I am going to rely on room service for the occasional 3am cheeseburger and vanilla milkshake. (I may be an old geezer but sometimes I eat like a teenager!)

We've cruised on this ship about 3 yrs ago, and liked it so much going again in December, Miami to Los Angelses. Prior cruise was easter mediterranean, Israel to Italy. Bit of a rough start, but that was more to do with Israel.

What date did you take this cruise?

Aug 24-Sept 18. I booked one long cruise, but when I got on the ship, I learned that it was two cruises for most passengers. I guess I got some rare package that combined the North Atlantic cruise with a Bermuda Cruise.

Could you tell me the nationality of the crew members?

They were from all over the map and they had no problem speaking and understanding English. It was a friendly and responsive crew.

@seniorsolotravel You're most welcome. Theres a famous football team in Scotland, called Celtic, but pronounced Seltic. Yet, It's derivative is Celt, pronounced Kelt! Makes no sense whatsoever. Thank you for your most interesting video. I would like to subscribe. Cheers
