Not sure which "military bases" were around back in the 1930s. But I'm pretty sure Sandy Hook CG station was in operation back then. And they would have been the closest "major" CG command for that area. And you could also be talking about Atlantic City CG station. These last few months, Mr Brady, yourself and your team have emerged from a healthy but hard-fought lead over the chasing pack of maritime KZbin channels, to assume a place entirely your own in the pantheon of the greats. Your dedication to duty is second to none, your skill in conveying the horrors of a tragedy equally so; the deep-felt empathy woven into each carefully-placed moment of footage or voiceover is so very clear for all to sense - and, through you therefore, we too hold the victims and survivors in our hearts. Those who never left ship, you bring back to life; those whose voyage continued long after their rescue, you humanise, because they were human. Those responsible, you give the treatment they deserved but may not have received in life, and in this way, we all feel as if something, at least, has been put right. You're not half-bad, old bean! Full ahead, aye aye...

Great Video. So way back when.....(As I've been a liner enthusiast my entire life)....in High School I used to give lectures on the history of the ocean liners. One day in my senior year I did one on the "Morro Castle"......after reading "Shipwreck: the strange fate of the Morro Castle".....and the interest in the story amongst otherwise uninterested teenagers in Laguna Beach, Ca back then was amazing. I think it was because of the George White Rogers angle, and particularly his life of crime after the disaster.......Anyway, "When the dancing stopped" was also another good read. Cheers, mate!

I've been hoping that you would do a video about her. I first heard about the Morro Castle from a show called Shipwreck, I think it was. They did an episode about her and interviewed survivors. This was before arson became the accepted theory, and the show discussed other potential causes, including overheat from the updates and electrical short. Years later, I still find her story chilling, especially since the FCC has refused to give her callsign to anyone else. If you look it up, it's still assigned to SS Morro Castle. Another completely random, but interesting fact, because I am FULL of those and have nothing else better to do. The Morro Castle held the speed record for the New York to Havana run - until Cunard put the Mauretania on that same route at the end of her life. Yeah, poor Morro Castle lost that record REAL quick once the Maury came on scene. On Maury's last voyage before retirement, she was returning to New York from Havana and passed the Morro Castle's burned out wreck. Since the Maury had burned herself years earlier, only saved by the heroic actions of her crew, part of me likes to think if she understood how lucky she'd been then.
