gunna be honest, whichever era of the band, theres no denying this entire project is not OAA without Chris Turner. Rotate members out all you like, but hes the foundation to the band. Playing and writing drum patterns, so cleverly syncopated, almost as though the drums were a lead instrument at times, THIS is what makes this band different and distinctly Oceans ate Alaska.

Couldn't disagree more with this, their earlier albums had a lot more iconic songs on them. When they let him run off with the main bulk of the writing all the songs sounded the same. Obviously he's a ridiculously talented drummer, but you don't remember songs because of the drums alone 🤣 What does he have 2 extra side projects? Everyone should have a say when writing in a band not 2 people.

As a long-time consoooomer of OAA music (while disregarding the internal issues of past recently brought up), I think this vocalist slots very well between Hansha and their other albums. The song is great even though it feels a bit instrumentally mainstream focused. The production and writing is solid as usual. Hopefully future songs dabble in the more OAA-esque musically-technical side we have seen from prior albums. With this new vocalists high/low/clean on top of that older style, I see this band becoming my favorite. I really look forward to hearing this group live playing their older music a bit with the new guy. Thanks for the new music!
@weaponologistm10711 ай бұрын
Don’t forget guys, this song is a pilot-episode song, probably written around the vocalist so he can show his range to his new audience. It probably will sound generic to begin with but no doubt they will flex their prowess in their next LP.
@Warriorz197911 ай бұрын
While wishing for more OAA-esque technically written music it can’t be done for Jibs is the only guitarist. Him & Adam were able to wonderfully play their technical parts while the other could play rhythm. They’d switch off effortlessly and now with only Jibs remaining, guitars suffer as he can choose to only play technical parts or rhythm parts. That or have a backtrack of whichever part he isn’t playing during shows.
