Sometimes, when I go to bed, I leave my laptop turned on playing "The frame"... and I fall asleep listening to this beautiful song, It's like a lullaby to me. One of their best songs.

I went to see Smashing Pumpkins at the MEN Arena at the start of 2008, and only found out on the day that these guys were supporting. I'd never even heard of them so was kind of disappointed. Then the show started, and it was like being hit with a wall of noise (in a good way). I've never, ever enjoyed a concert so much in my life - and I was actually gutted when they left the stage and SP came on. They've been my favourite band ever since, I'm so glad I got to experience them in a big arena.

A good amount of time have passed and yet, I'm still sad because they split up :(

Such a sad day in the music history....this band was really one of a kind to me and their split hit me right in the soul like no other band did before.hope they reconsider their decision in a near by future,in the meanwhile we'll always have amazing oceansize songs like this one and its funny because they're not the picture anymore but they will always be the frame,one very important frame....

Osize are the definition of math-rock, let me explain: 3 2 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 3 2 1 - That's the opening guitar in compound timing, add them all up and you have a recuring sequence of 50 beats. That's the first guitar bit in a nutshell... Second guitar bit is... 6 4 6 1 - This kicks in at the beginning and the 3rd section of the first guitar sequence... The 3rd part is... 3 2 2 2 - 3 2 2 2 - The most interesting, since it's odd, it gives the alternating feel...

@rlesbirel Thanks for pointing that out. There are a good few guitars that look very similar to Gibsons. My friend has a hollow body Yamaha that looks just like one as well. I remember Mike saying how he upgraded that cheap 80 strat and made it sound amazing.
@Ceramique15 жыл бұрын
because they're emotive proggressive post rock. From manchester. They HAVE a genre dearie.

I think 10,000 days is a very different album than their other work, not in a negative way. It reminds me a lot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I love it. But you are right in a way, as I would like to see Oceansize live in the near future for less than €30. Although, if they would get biiger I might actually have a chance of getting my hands on their EP's here in Belgium?

I'm so fucking pissed off I never saw them live. Possibly could've been the greatest live act ever. Oh well, though. Maybe down the road, 'Size will have a reunion, but until then I'll thoroughly support each band member's projects. Thoroughly looking forward to Mike's solo work as well as British Theatre, which is Gambler and Mike. In the end, it all balances itself out.

@oneeyedcreepydude The flip side of that is they keep their music good. Getting too much exposure often kills bands. People forget Biffy Clyro were an awesome post-hardcore band back in the day. They saw the limelight and money, and the music has suffered.

Lol. Glasgea here. :) But emotive ah bugger. wikipedia proves me wrong. They're apparently space rock too. Just like amplifier! :D I totally understand the emotional definition. But then again I'd have to say there are some things I'd define as emotive over others. Say, Incubus I would not define as emotive. The Mars Volta I would say is emotive (on specific albums), The Offspring I would not say is emotive, its more like complaining. LOL.

I suppose it is list-like but honestly its what they are. Manchester is relevant because of national pride damnit. >:l Emo != emotive. Difference there. (no really wikipedia told me so)
