Just bought a Bronco Raptor here in San Diego. The discount was unbelievable. Got the numbers put together and they hid the add ons in a very ambiguous acronym right next to the tax line. Told them to explain the extra $4500 and it became apparent they were hoping that I wouldn’t notice. No addendum sticker on the vehicle, just that one line on the number sheet. One would think that I was taking food off of their table when I told them that I would immediately walk if they didn’t come back with an out the door price, minus their bs add ons (KARR, “ceramic,” edge guards, etc.) Don’t fall for their greasy pity party. If they don’t stop you before you walk out the door; they will call you and offer a price without the add ons. Decent dealers are very few and further in between.

All these scams and tricks the dealers do just drive people away. It’s not just Dodge because I almost bought a Ford F150, but couldn’t work with the dealer. Now that we have Hyundai selling directly off of Amazon and other direct-to-consumer brands like Tesla, these dealers need to think twice before making it so difficult. I wish there was something like Saturn, where you knew the price and the dealer wasn’t trying to scam you. As always keep up the great videos!

The first year of Maverick pick ups a SoCal ford dealer marked the base model up $5k, the mid one $7500, and the fully loaded model $10k. When I told the salesman I wouldn’t pay that $5k he said, “I guess we’re done here.” Walking away he said “Other people will.” They lost my and my families business.

I have a friend who does really well selling cars in the north east, makes about 250-350k on any given year. He told me that his whole dealership has an extremely good reputation and they sell more cars than everyone else because of it. Because they sell more than anyone else, they don't feel any pressure to push shady tactics. Brad, I use to work at a parts store 15 years ago, used to sell McGurad locks, can almost guarantee that's who makes them for the dealers still today. They cost us $15 and we would sell them for $25 and the dealers back then sold them for $75. Obviously just the way they try and make more money off the customer with all this add on crap. Look at that white jeep you looked at, $700 for a "security system" well did they put it in or was it done by the previous owner. The vehicle has one from the manufacturer most likely too. I understand LOTS of overhead for these businesses but c'mon now! Great video as always! 👍

It’s funny because my work truck is a Ford F250. So while my truck was getting repaired there was a Ford F-250 King Ranch setting by the front door for sale. It had apparently $25k of add ons. Lift, tires and wheels, and other things. I took a pic of it and walked across the street to 4 Wheel Parts. I wrote down the parts list on a piece of paper and asked for the total price out the door. They told me $5200 dollars. So Ford is selling $5200 worth of add ons for $25,000. Wow!!!! Now wonder that truck has been on the lot for over 700 days.

I bought a used Mini Cooper a few years ago that had the lock wheel nuts but the socket for them was missing. I went to the local BMW dealership looking to buy a socket. He said they'd have to figure out which one is needed and order it. Could be a few weeks and $50. Or, I could be a new set for $60 with socket and they'd change them out for free. Did it outside in the parking lot and I gave him a $20 tip.

Recently shop for used car at Tony Sierra Nissan at Highland, Michigan. Dealer sneakily add GAP insurance $1500 they give me bad blurry copy of invoice 1500 printed between lines. First manager arguing that bank requires turning around its lying, so then insist that it's good things protected investment, finally after pushing harder they return $1500 as payment on the loan but worst because I missed those numbers from beginning they increased monthly payment and assumed that maybe I don't catching. Really any time shopping for cars better don't go alone.

I went to about 8 different dealers looking for a truck. I gave up. Every one tried to rip me off. A Ford dealer quoted me more than the new MSRP for a 2022 F-150 used. Every dealer had a "crap" sticker. Like The "addendums", "dealer fee", "Market adjustment", "Electronic filing fee", etc.

As a former ASM, I can tell you that when you have a HOT item, where the demand is so high, you can get away with certain addendums....but in the current sales climate, where interest rates are high and the average price of a car has gone through the ceiling, you're fighting an uphill battle to get people to buy cars with that nonsense included on the price sticker.......

Don't let the addendum keep you from buying. EVERYTHING is negotiable. If the dealer wants to make a deal that day, especially if they've been blanking, they'll nearly give the car away just so the managers don't have to answer to the ownership the next day on why they blanked. Situation dictates, if they're having a good day/week/month, they can still tell you to pound sand.

There are some honest dealers but tough to find. I bought a 24 Toyota 4 Runner TRD Pro in Terra at MSRP...69K CDN or 49K USD. No markup and they included wheel locks, cargo cover, trailer hitch, all season rubber mats at no cost and they even removed the 1K Document fee. I did have to wait 8 months but the dealer even provided updates as to where in transit the vehicle was. Shopping around definitely paid off.

Years ago (I was living in Australia then) and got a phone message. My friend's wife had a flat tyre, but she couldn't install the spare tyre herself because the wheelnuts/lugnuts didn't fit. The wife was normally ok to change her own flat tyre. I went around to where she'd left the car parked outside some shops walking distance from their house. They'd bought the car used and previous owners had fitted 4 Alloy/mag wheels which came with their own special shaped wheelnuts. They were NOT locking, but they were an unusual profile shape to fit those specific Alloy wheelrims. But the spare tyre in the boot/trunk was the normal sort of basic pressed steel wheelrim which was standard back in the 1980's. The Alloy wheels came with a specially shaped nut. Because the previous owners of the car were idiots, they had NOT put aside 5 of their original lugnuts and tossed them in the car's boot along with the jack and spare wheel. I took the punctured Alloy wheel to the tyre shop to leave it to get repaired and while there asked for some standard wheel nuts, for the normal basic pressed steel rims . The guy went and grabbed some from a big bucket of used wheelnuts for free. I went back and fitted the spare using the salvaged lugnuts and drove the car back home for them, then later when the Alloy rim and tyre was ready (can't remember if the puncture got fixed or if it needed a whole new tyre) I re-installed the alloy wheel and made sure to tie up the pressed steel rim style lugnuts with a piece of string like a bangle and put them in with the spare wheel, for if they were needed in future. My current (European) car has an unusual, proprietary type of shaped bolts for the wheels. So I bought a replacement set from a car wreckers that came off a rare but compatible car.

Document fee, for printing the paperwork related to the sale, and submitting the lawfully required paperwork to the state they are located in. Some dealers even charged a "DMV Fee" to help offset the expense for them submitting their paperwork to their local DMV office, plus the cost of the paper, forms, and laster toner used when printing the documents. Any time I see a Doc Fee for a vehicle I plan to purchase, that is the 1st or 2nd item I refuse to pay.

Every dealer I’ve purchased from has that garbage. I’ve bought from ford, Toyota, Honda and CDJR. They all had dealer add ons, very annoying.

Yeah, trying to make this a Chrysler.Dodge issue is just wrong.Neighbor recently walked out of the local volvo dealer for the same issue.

The funny thing is you cant prove they put " nitro air " in the tires . There such crooks that they probably just say they did. But didn't.

Dealerships are crazy. A dealership near me has a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude for the same price as a new 2025. 😂
