Love that movie. Plus Great Synthesizer score by Tangerine Dream (before they did GTA 5).

Yeah, Joel Goodsen is actually number 3 on my list of favorite Tom Cruise roles. Like, my favorite Tom Cruise role is Jerry Maguire, and then my 2nd favorite is Dr. Bill Hartford from Eyes Wide Shut, and then Joel is number 3. Joel's the role that pretty much turned Cruise into the famed actor that he is now and... why not? He's very charismatic in the part, and he makes Joel an instantly likable character. This is a movie that could've very easily been annoying, but thanks to Cruise's suburb work, it ends up becoming one of the most enduring teen movies ever made. I probably would even go as far as to say it's right up there with John Hughes filmography. Despite all of the mishaps that happen throughout the movie, Joel attempts to keep levelheaded, and it's easy to root for him. Huge credit goes to Tom Cruise, in that regard.

The director didn't want to go to Epstein Island or a Diddy party... that's why he didn't go further, bro.

I dunno about that. This was in 1983. But I wouldn't be surprised if he did refuse some things when it pertains to the industry or pissed some high ranking exec off so much he got blacklisted.
