Whatsup I'm using Octane in C4d 2023.1.0 Had lots of the same trouble as everyone else. DONT hit "calculate". The free pack has 10 different vbd's in it, and Cinema tries to interpret these as a 10-frame sequence, instead of 10 unique volumes/clouds. Also, mess around with "Import Unit" right underneath the calculate button. I had to change mine from Centimeters all the way up to Hectometers. It seems with a regular scene size, the imported vbd's are teeny tiny. Peace out.

We don’t do a free pack with 10 VDBs in. But yes some of our legacy volumes are smaller

Hi there, I noticed that you work extremely fast on rtx 2080, I am struggling to work with vdb using 1080ti, do you think rtx really helps?

Hi, I jumped from gtx960 straight to a rtx card. So its hard to say for definate. Render speed should be way faster but normal workflow probably about the same.

@@VFXHut thank you.I thought so too, because I'm more worried about having too much lag time in live viewer than rendering it out

Whats your processors clock speed. Not sure if you know this. In viewport on c4d it doesnt matter whether you have 4 cores or 24 cores, it will only use 1 anyway. Meaning if you have a 3.6ghz quad core it will be better than a 2.9Ghz eight core. I use a 6 core 3.6ghz overclocked to 4.2ghz so that is why its fast :). Hope this helps :)

@@VFXHut i'm still using ryzen 9 3900x, it's 12 core 3,79. I never thought octane liveviewer uses processor :D that's new to know. I was working on a sample scene for a client with animated vdb clouds from embergen into cinema. I gave up and rendered it directly from embergen and composed it on after effects, I think it's the fastest way to do it right now
