Thank you for watching and commenting ! You can get an OT used for quite cheap these days, if you like sampling, I highly recommend trying one out, although you might get addicted :) Cheers !

Usually I hate the sound of comb filters and therefore never use them. But in this example I heard some very nice sounds :)

:) on the other hand, it absolutely makes sense to resample directly in the OT if you're happy with short snippets. It works particularly well when building sample chains, as you can sequence, resample and slice in the same box. I suppose every approach is valid, and has its uses, it just depends on what you're trying to achieve :)

damn - I now have reason to use the comb filter... crazy good tips!

good question :) I like to track all my "noodlings" into a DAW for archiving and cutting / producing. The OT has a pretty limited amount of RAM, so extended jamming sessions are out of the question. I fond I come up with interesting stuff after a few minutes of jamming, and over sometimes a few hours :) i like recording all of it, but that's a personal preference, some might just be happy with snippets. I see my computer as a massive storage room for me to record jams into :) Then cut samples.

one question, why would you track it out into a daw ? could´nt the octatrack resample its own sound ? and even more important, from all i know, all movements of any effect or parameter can be locked or recorded into the sequencer or scene so why track out anything into a daw ?

you mention recording the loop into a DAW and for later work, but could you also just re-sample the loop back in the Octatrack directly?
@SecretMusicUK11 жыл бұрын
Yes, definitely ! The only reason I like to do this in a DAW is so that I have unlimited recording time, allowing for long takes of random tweaking. I also find the OT's sample handling quite tedious. Finally, most of my music ends up in a DAW at some point, so for my workflow, it makes sense to prep and edit samples in there, so i can pull them in a session at any time. But use whatever method works for you :) Cheers !

Yes, you can always easily resample the internal sound of the octa

These are great tutorials. Can Octatrack import any sample/wav form?
@SecretMusicUK10 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jim ! Yes the OT reads from the card, and can import in RAM any sample or single cycle or full track :)
