this is the platform that David deserved - they let him shine - great song, musicians, and professional production. His voice - a gift from God and, himself - a force of Nature. The band is havin' fun! and, the be-dangled, singin', dancin', bass player ("Cookie"?) nearly steals the show. I've watched this 100x and will prob'ly watch 100x more. This is the kind of music that echoes above the earth.

This is what David Cassidy really wanted to sing and perform like. He tried so hard to be accepted as a serious musician, rather than just a Teen Idol. Sad.

yes, the "rolling stone" cover thing was a loud scream for acknowledgement as such. and you are correct; this tour, this comeback....found him thriving, completely, as a musician and artist. he was completely STOKED at the idea of a comeback....unfortunately, the record company folded quickly after release, i believe. i will never, EVER believe that he enjoyed playing partridge family tunes. listening to partridge family music, almost, to me anyhow, feels like a betrayal of him as a true artist, lol

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I try to explain to my now grown up children just how enormously popular David Cassidy was. He was literally on every magazine cover every poster, cup, tee shirt and binder. In the early 70s every girl had his likeness on the wall at home or in a walker he was Justin Bieber on steroids, and this was before there was any such thing as social media or KZbin !

You're so right. He was as great a performer as Jon BonJovi and the rest of the rock legends. All he needed was a good songwriting team and a label that would promote him properly. He had the talent. He just lacked efficient managers. Just a bunch of greedy jackals spending all his hard earned money.

David never did a better performance than this. This is just a little hint at what could have been. This record I believe would have made the Top Ten in any countries charts but the record company he recorded this with went bust so they couldn't press anymore copies to give it that push it needed to be the Top Ten(or even Number One)smash hit it well and truly deserved to be. A Rock and Roll CLASSIC by a Great,Superb and extremely talented man.

Its the same for me, and I even wasnt a hardcore fan, being too young in the seventies and living in a different part of the world where he was not that hyped, but I did like him back then, and after his passing, I have watched uncountable clips , to update myself, only to find myself crying over the fact he is gone, how much good stuff he did, all those great songs, and that I wish I could turn back time..whats wrong with me?...

@alicew3563
@alicew3563 6 жыл бұрын
j.denino57 Yeah, I'm swedish. I guess you are right, but I am still here watching clips....MJ' s death was also very tragic, personally I wasn't that affected by it although, even if I dug his music, same with Prince, so I guess it has to do with childhood memories somewhat. Strange it is.

Sometimes when there is something in your life, a loss of some kind that you haven't worked through mourning and grief this can happen. Then a celebrity that you liked dies and it will bring out the mourning that may not have been completed at the earlier time....maybe you are depressed about something? Have you lost someone close to you in recent years? Maybe you should go and do some talk therapy with a therapist to work through the feelings.... I have previously gone through these feelings, incomplete mourning. Then MJ died and I was watching all of his clips and it made me cry over the loss of a family member that I hadn't finished grieving fully. Or maybe there is something else going on in your emotional life. I'm not a professional therapist. I do not know. I do enjoy watching David Cassidy's singing and acting. It's too bad he didn't get the life he really wanted. At least he's at peace now I hope. (I did shed tears after he passed away myself). I was only 10 when I first saw his show on television. I was also 10 when MJ became famous in 1970. We have been losing a lot of people in the entertainment industry over the past 10 years. Reminds us of our own mortality I guess.
@alicew3563
@alicew3563 6 жыл бұрын
j.denino57 Very wise words, thanks for the concern. I did not have a loss or such thing recently, but I get your point and think you are right saying these things can trigger emotions you've kept hidden. Yes, there' s been far too many good musicians leaving us lately..When Bowie died I had a very strong reaction aswell, was so very sad. Really liked his music, met him once briefly and he was such a down to earth and nice man (it's nice when someone you "idolize" live up to it IRL) so that one I can understand more than the David Cassidy thing, but as I've understud it, a lot of women (and men) have the same feelings I do concerning his death, both longterm fans and people like me with childhood memories, so I guess its a strong emotional factor-childhood memories, both happy and sad ones. I dont know, its something with his struggle also, that moves me.

i think he looks better here than even on the bob hope special from 1972...he was sober, in love with sue shifrin, and rocking out and just wish he could have kept his sobriety when his mom got sick...

@@onemajorhottie he was never 'in love' with Suan Dey he loved her as a sister and nothing else. He admitted that himself. He preferred the more slutty type of girl. Oh and he really did love his wife. Read his book!

@@jaynebourne I've read both books and never expected to hear him publicly humiliate his wife by saying he loved another woman more. He was in love with Susan and that was all over his face when he saw her. He couldn't help it because he was with the person he was in love with. Also, I never said he didn't love Sue I said he was never in love with her. There's a difference. I've seen him with her many times in public and never felt the same warm chemistry he had with Susan Dey.

@@jaynebourne I never bought into that the way you have. People often say one thing and mean another. I go by their body language and his when Susan was with him said he was in love. Hers said the same so he said things to protect the feelings of his wife but it was obvious he wasn't in love with Sue Shifrin or the wives before her. He loved Kay but I doubt he ever loved his second wife at all.

ihad the pleasure of meeting david cassidy (1st time) at a "meet and greet" in albany ny. sept/'90, just before this CD was released. i got to speak with him, shortly before his appearance that day, via a call in opportunity through the radio station that sponsored him. (fly92-which i honestly never listened to, ironically) this was long before "meet and greets" became the capitalist regime they are these days. david was in a little bar called "the partridge pub', cordoned off by velvet rope, while he ate chicken wings with the radio staff. he looked JUST LIKE he does in this video. the room was packed-all of us "mature ladies"" , career women, moms, wives, etc.; it was so quiet you could have heard that proverbial pin drop. however....i noticed the ladies would sometimes look around the room at each other, and it was sooo obvious in their eyes, that they were SERIOUSLY CHOMPIN' AT THE BIT...with excitement and anticipation. you just KNEW they would have loved to let out a scream, being only feet away from where our beloved david sat...but hey, we were MATURE WOMEN at that point, riight? not sure why i did this, but suddenly i found myself SINGING, very loudly, "i think i love you". the entire song. i can't sing to save my life, but the excitement was PURE. i am sure everyone cringed, especially poor david. immediately after, a cameraman and a reporter rolled up and asked me to "do it again..", saying i would be on the news later that night. a bit apprehensively, i called over my two galpals in attendance for an encore performance., and again, much to poor david's chagrin, i imagine-myself and two friends "trio-ed" our own version of the song. afterward he signed an I LOVE DAVID banner i got from a concert in '72, and the copy of LIFE MAGAZINE he had made the cover of; when he asked how to spell my name, i blushed and said "umm, it doesn't matter"... he giggled and said "well, is it "ie", or "y"?, still laughing. i took a photo with him as well. Extended my hand to say "thank you for your time, good luck". i had called in sick to work that day and feared repercussions.....but this was a once in a lifetime opportunity not to be missed. there were no repercussions, and strangers and people i knew who recognized me from the news bit... casually would smile and offer a comment. a beautiful memory i will absolutely cherish, forever. thank you, mr. cassidy.
