Really outstanding clarity to the broadcast. Great throwback to October 1981. Great to hear Murph. It was a tough day to see Joe Torre move on but it was time and it all worked out for him and the Mets.

Ralph flubs the Getty sponsor read at the end since his mind was thinking of a beer or car sponsor when he starts to go, "Getty, makers of......" and then bails himself out by finishing "great gas."

hey @epaddon thanks a bunch for all the throwback content. was wondering if you had any old clips of Mike and the Mad Dog show about getting Piazza to NY in 1997? Can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

Ralph flubbing sponsor billboard reads reached a crescendo with Mitsubishi, don't think he ever was able to say that name clearly. His "...makers of good gas..." line would have been perfect for Taco Bell. You missed one whopper, @ 36:47 Ralph reverts back to his PCL days - calling the Mariners "Raniers". Always fun to hear what Ralph would say, then if the 9Nooz was next - what Lloyd Lindsey Young would come out with. Always entertaining. Took a little time to shed the Steve Albert/Lorn Brown malaise when McCarver arrives in '83. Murph finally had a good partner when Gary Thorne joins on in '85. Al Harazin was always in over his head, riding Cashen's, Joe Mac's and Lou Gorman's coattails, his paring with Jeff-ie Cou-pon running and ruining the club made that obvious.

Can't believe they let torre hang on for over 4 years. Should've canned him at least a year earlier

Work stoppage wiped out 1/3, games played in M.L.B. that 1981 season

A full season at that rate would be a little more than 1 million. Still not very good.

At top, audio clip you hear late long-time Mets bcstr. Bob Murphy doing live voice-over pr'mtng WOR-TV's coverage, N.B.A./N.H.L. action for N.Y. City, N.Y. metro. area's Winter sports teams' f'rthcmng 1981-1982 seasons. Plus he was also promoting sta.'s 1981-1982 W'ntr sports season bcst. schedule which v'wrs could receive via Mail. I got one, those over 4 decades back, as well as sta.'s 1985 Mets season TV-airing schedule

As mentioned before, WOR-TV (Ch. 9) aired Islander road games in each, h'cky 🏒 🧊 ⛸️ club's first 13 seasons, its existence (1972-1973 thru 1984-1985), but starting in 1985-1986 N.H.L. season, since-extinct SportsChannel N.Y., in addition to airing Islander home games started airing Islander road games as well taking over from WOR-TV (Ch. 9), which aired Islander road games in each, hockey club's first 13 seasons, its existence (1972-1973 thru 1984-1985)

I.Y.O., why do you think that Islander road games went from WOR-TV (Ch. 9) to since-extinct SportsChannel-N.Y. for 1985-1986 N.H.L. season?

Speaking, sports on N.Y. City, N.Y. metro. area's WOR-TV (Ch. 9), in 1970s, in addition to airing Mets games/championship wrestling m'tchs aired N.B.A. and N.H.L. games, along with Roller Derby/Canadian Football League (C.F.L.) action. In mid-1970s it even showed syndicated TVS network's coverage, World Football League (W.F.L.) action, as well as syndicated network's coverage, 1976 College Football season's XVIIIth Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl classic bet. Univ., Neb./Tex. Tech on New Yr.'s Eve night, 1976 (December 31, 1976-Fri.). And speaking, that XVIIIth Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl classic from 1976 College Football season, I.Y.O., why do you think that ABC-TV Network declined to air that game on last day, historic Bi-Centennial yr., 1976 as it went with its reg. Fri. prime time lineup/syndicated TVS network aired that XVIIIth Astro-Bl'bnnt Bowl cl'ssc instead?

I.M.O., 1976 College Football season's XVIIIth Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl classic bet. Univ., Neb./Tex. Tech on Dec. 31, 1976 (Fri.-New Yr.'s Eve) could've been moved ahead from 8:00 PM (E.T., 7:00 PM local time in Hou., Tex., where game was played in) to 3:15 PM (E.T., 2:15 PM local time in Hou., Tex.) w/ABC-TV Network starting its coverage, contest at 3:15 PM (E.T.)
