I like to use different colored leader lines depending on the water clarity. I use green, red, and clear.
@Fishin-GirlАй бұрын
That’s interesting that you use colored leaders. What’s the advantage of the leaders being colored as opposed to the floats or beads? Thanks for watching!

Kathy....how are you getting your fishing cart down the "cliff" created due to the beach restoration? Thanks in advance...love your videos...I'm a local here in PC.

@@rosetoon5621 thanks so much for watching. I’ve actually been avoiding the restoration area because it changes things so drastically when it comes to fish and bait, I’ll have to get out and relearn those beaches again. So not sure what to say. How “high” is the Cliff? Did that develop because of the storm surge we had from Helene? Or was it like that before?

Sure! Try using mullet or a small whiting or other bait fish (preferably fresh) on a Carolina or fish finder rig with a longer metal or very thick leader. A lot of companies make good shark rigs. Cut the bait so it bleeds to attract them more. Toss that out mid-trough of you have a trough there, or as far as you can get it if it’s a low-impact beach. Then wait. lol. Check the bait occasionally because the crabs can get to it or smaller bait stealers. I catch smaller sharks on my regular rigs, especially if I have cut bait. You could have a stronger double drop out for bluefish made with 40# or 60# mono or flourocarbon and larger hooks like 4/0. Put cut mullet on that and you might get a smaller shark like a bonnethead. Make sure you have your Florida shark fishing license if you are going to be targeting them with longer metal leaders and bigger hooks. You can actually get fined for not having it if you get checked. It’s a free course about shark ID and safe handling, which is great info anyway. Hope that helps and tight lines !

spot tips here in St. johns/St. Aug area?

I like to fish at Surfside Park in Vilano Beach. Matanzas Beach is also a good place. You can try Anastasia Island state park, they charge a fee to get in, but they have nicer restrooms and it’s really pretty there. I I’ve not fished too much north of Vilano Beach area so I don’t have tips on places north of there. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!
