Oh my goodness, I cannot believe you got your hands on an ARC of Clear. That is my #1 most anticipated read of 2024. Can you feel the envy radiating off me? lol. I've been hearing great things about it from early readers. Hope you enjoy it, Louise!

Another excellent haul (and I love the top you are wearing in the video). I was stunned to receive a proof copy of the new Carys Davies novel in the mail today and will be reading it as soon as I can. I almost never buy cookbooks either but lately have been very drawn to several. It must be the season!

Yes, I agree your October 📚 haul looks very inviting (esp CLEAR) 👍 I’ve only read The Hare With Amber Eyes - almost 9 years ago (I checked my notebooks of books read 😌📚) I think I rushed the end; so do have a copy to reread as I really enjoyed it 🤓

Yes, what a gorgeous edition of Frankenstein. Latest time I read Frankenstein was together with Frankissstein by Jeanette Winterson. A fascinating novel that I often think about with all the ongoing discussions about AI.

What a great haul. You are so lucky to get books sent to you. I loved Pet by Chidgey so look forward to new one. I also love,the tacticity of books and beautiful covers. The Hare with Amber eyes is a modern classic beautifully told and will send you in search of natsukes.

The Hare With Amber Eyes is my second favorite non-fiction book ever (the first being Braiding Sweet Grass). Not only is Edmund De Waal an extraordinary potter, but he is an excellent writer and consummate storyteller. The history, the mystery, the journey of the netsuke is fascinating, as is the history of De Waal's family and the greater world. I first read this probably around 2012 or 13, and it has stayed with me all these years. I am sure that you will enjoy it as well. Cheers!

No magpies in my area but plenty of crows and blue jays from the same Corvidae family as magpies. I love them. In fact, they were in my back garden just before I sat down with you as they know I have a stash of (unsalted) peanuts in the shell for them.🥜🥜🥜

Just a FYI - Australian Magpies are completely unrelated to your Magpies, which are corvids. Australian Magpies are members of the Butcherbird family and have been introduced to NZ. Stone Yard Devotional hit the shelves here in Australia a week or two ago. Do you have Sami Tamini and Tara Wigley's cookbook Falastin? My very favourite cookbook which also has lots of short articles on life in Palestine.
@louisesavidgemuses413510 ай бұрын
Interesting stuff about your magpies! And I don’t have Falastin. Will look it out 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡

Ooh, I preordered the Carys Davies the minute Simon mentioned it on his video a week or two ago! But it’s quite a wait! 😩 It’ll be fabulous when it arrives, I’m sure! Currently reading I’m Not Scared, that you recommended in your spooky reads video. It’s off to a great start. Very reminiscent of The Body by Stephen King, which was made into the movie Stand By Me. We’ll see what turns I’m Not Scared takes!

TheBook Of Night Women is an important book that needs to be read, but in its graphic realism it was just too visceral and violent to be a book to ”enjoy”. I’m glad I read it, but it was difficult to take and I don’t think I’ll ever read it again. But I’ll never forget it.
@louisesavidgemuses413510 ай бұрын
I suspected as much. Thanks so much for the warning 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡
