I love how you incorporate the quality of writing and editing into your reviews. It adds a level of review that I wish more people included, as a poorly edited book ruins my own reading experience.

Hope you're having a good time on your adventures. I recently read Loot by Tania James and really enjoyed it, both the story itself and how it was told. Would definitely like to read more by James and The Tusk that Did the Damage sounds like a good choice 😊🐘

I'm going to add Thread Ripper to my tbr, that sounds like something I might enjoy! I dnfed Kaikeyi, there was just something in the writing I didn't gel with. Like you said, it probably needed a bit more editing, it just felt a bit laboured to me.

With hindsight, I think the style was maybe a little wooden. 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡

I've been wanting to check out Kaikeyi. For July: 1. Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish 2. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen 3. Merchants of Virtue (The Huguenot Connection Book One) by Paul C.R. Monk 4. The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe 5. Jane Austen in Real Life: A Life in Small Things by Paula Byrne 6. Charlotte by Helen Moffett My favorites were Weight of Ink and Charlotte.

Some lovely books there. I loved The Mysteries of Udolfo when I read it as a young woman but suspect I might find it a bit flawed if I read it now 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚🧡🧡🧡

I need to read Thread Ripper. Madwoman… well done for finishing it is all I’m saying. I looooooved Leave The World Behind, was GRIPPED. 1982. A particularly fine vintage year. I need to read that I have it on my shelves. I really, really need to read The Schoolhouse. In fact I might read it next.

Passing is such a great novel. I’ve read The vanishing half and this one back to back. Loved them both, but Passing was my favourite. Kim Young was also an amazingly written book. The tusk is on my tbr. I have a totally different cover and I love mine to bits.

Interesting that you mentioned Madwoman would have been better as non fiction - Kim Jiyoung is a much better example of fitting lots of factual information into fiction, I loved it and learned a lot at the same time!

@@louisesavidgemuses4135 Haha you referred to time in a teacher way. Like we break up the year in the US between the school year and summer and you said a UK version of the same thing hahaha! I just got a new paper calendar and guess when it starts? August!!! haha!

I loved" leave the world behind," as the book says more than between the lines and makes you question . A book thank leaves you thinking book. I would say on the same level as "My sister the serial killer." I think if you understand what the author is trying to say between the lines without stating it on the page, love book, that's why I think it's got mixed reviews. If I'm making sense ?

Read Leave The World Behind for one of my book clubs on my recommendation. I was disappointed with the ending where nothing was cleared up as to why the son's teeth fell out, why the husband lost so much time and getting lost, why the animals were flocking.

I thought that Kim Jiuoung was very clever, it really distanced the reader from the character which felt even worse, and then in the end you realise why you've been kept that way. Very interesting and infuriating read as a woman.
