In each video we share that we're thrifty, frugal and live off a super tight budget. Every one who lives off a zero balance budget knows at the beginning of every month where every penny is going to go. A loose budget is where you don't know. Budget and income is not the same. If you watch Dave Ramsay's phone ins, you'll know there's callers with really high incomes and no budget and what Dave Ramsay's team does to help is to put them in a super tight budget where there's no waste and easy unplanned spending ends there and then. Living on a super tight budget doesn't mean someone doesn't have enough money, it means someone has planned all their long term savings, sinking funds, discretionary spending and living costs. Thanks for watching.

I plan to adopt a senior cat very soon. Instead of purchasing pet insurance I plan to increase my savings to cover her vet care. She's already had an exam, she's been vaccinated and her first vet visit is covered by the shelter.

Well done for giving the old moggy a loving home, you might like to look at the BARF diet for cats as this will definitely improve her health so avoiding vet bills , best wishes to you, kind person

Check with your vet to see if they offer pet insurance. This way you won't have to only pay for emergencies. I have pet insurance for my 3 fur babies through their vet which includes exam, shots, and labs. Plus one emergency visit.

Totally agree the budget videos make me rethink my budget. Sometimes I don’t need to change anything, other times I tweak mine. I have to say I also love the cookery videos as well. I don’t learn as much but they are interesting and they do get me out of a rut with my meal planning because seeing Jane cooking makes me want to try the meals.

I have been shocked to recently discover our sinking funds and daily living costs are now equal to money in. Food is extortionate and everything is going up. Scary times, but with help from you both, I feel a lot more able to save with no spend weeks and negotiating better deals. This process has been a real eye opener!

Hello I applaud the store ' Carrefour"for inrtoducing "shrinkflation" to products. Labels are attached to products which have shrunk in size but cost more.. I now keep a book tallying up prices I've paid before and current prices. That's how I have to control my food budget here in my area. '

No kidding they are higher! I’m in a suburb of Dallas, TX. Our combined water and electric bill last month was $900 and we water wisely and keep our thermostat near 80. My husband and I are retired, we spend a pretty similar amount on food. Every other category is higher though. Our medical premiums are 500$ for supplemental coverage as Medicare does not pay for everything. We have to pay for eye care and dental out of pocket.

@@barbhuber7502 : my husband has heart trouble, mild diabetes, had radiation for prostate cancer last year and his premiums went up to $419 a month during 2023. Then there was a premium for Part D drugs for $28. There is no dental coverage or vision coverage, so those bills are paid by us. My premiums are much lower, but my copays, and maximum out of pocket is high.

This was helpful! We have our savings in one account, but I haven't separated it out into different categories like you do, and between taking our first longer vacation this last summer, major car repairs and slow times at my husband's work, I've been feeling a little discouraged about seeing the savings go down. He always has slow times in the summers, but it's hard to see it go down so quickly. I think the sinking funds will help me get over the mental aspects of this. I'm definitely doing a no spend October this year.

We have a retirement fund disbursement yearly and keep money in savings so if something bigger than sinking funds comes up we have it in cash. We never carry consumer debt. But I keep a close eye on every category in our savings/ sinking funds. It has been working smoothly. All our accounts are linked and it is easy to keep everything straight. 👍
