Excellent video👍👍Haven't found Penny bun yet, kept going back to the same place last year where we found them, but they haven't showed up yet. It's been raining since Monday here in Birmingham and the temperature has dropped to 10°C, so hopefully they will show up, looking forward to the weekend to go foraging. I have learned a lot from your videos, thank you 🥰👍👍👍

I found a huge trove of birch boletes the other day. The people I was with were a little weirded out by how excited I was. ...until I made dinner the next day.

Thanks so much for these brilliant videos..just one question, when the spongy part of the penny bun goes yellow, is it still ok to eat? Also I have found yellow staining near to the base of the penny bun, id that also edible? I wondered if that was caused by insects? Many thanks

I've never found the Miller until this year (associated with lurid bolete on a verge by my work's car-park). It smells of wet dough and has a pink spore print, so am very, very tempted to give it a try! However, your hesitancy you described here is putting me off! 🤔🙂. Great vid as always. 👍
@skeetskeet4123
@skeetskeet4123 Жыл бұрын
Is it because the Miller is similar to the fools funnel with colour, shape and size ?
@ChrisJB
@ChrisJB Жыл бұрын
@@skeetskeet4123 Yes. Although the dough smell and pink spore print should elimate fool's funnel.

Love the idea of foraging for mushrooms, but you never really know when they'll pop up, come a week later and they've turned to mush. I guess you just have to pick a spot and keep watching!

So if I understand correctly, if you find an Agaricus that stains chrome yellow but smells good it is edible? Does the bright yellow stain overrule the smell or do you account for both?
@WildFoodUK1
@WildFoodUK1 Жыл бұрын
The smell overules the staining. Sometimes the horse mushroom can stain quite yellow but is a fantastic edible. Please be 100% sure though ;)

@@WildFoodUK1thank you! I was so confused because it smelled like store bought mushrooms but stained quite yellow. My book made it sound okay, but the internet made me quite worried about the yellow stainer. Sounds like I’ll have a lovely dinner tonight!

The yellow stainer is not the only mushroom that stains yellow. Please look at our channel and the video on the complexities of the Agaricus to find out more.

Can you touch on crayfish? Are they edible? I live on a narrowboat and where I'm moored is full of them. Any information would be much appreciated. Were the little brown mushrooms liberty caps?🤫😉
@WildFoodUK1
@WildFoodUK1 Жыл бұрын
Signal Crayfish are edible, all the rest are protected in the UK. You need a licence to catch them though so you can be taught how not to spread them and their eggs as they are destroying the population of our own native white clawed crayfish. I'm sure there are plenty of vids on them on youtube but I'll try to do one when I get the chance.

Hello Dear, I hope you are well, I saw your KZbin channel and understood that Very nice video on your channel, I really enjoyed it. One thing I noticed is that according to your channel, your channel videos are not watched and subscribed. You need to optimise your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will go viral. If your channel is a little optimised and if the videos are SEO then your channel will rank very fast and your channel will grow. And monetization of your channel will start. Do you want to customise? I am waiting for your response.

@@WildFoodUK1 Indeed... cryptic clues: the mention of horses, pasture and LBMs all came together a bit like a 'threeway' between moss, beech and chantarelles 🤣 Some serious feedback though - you Wild Food UK folks are fantastic and I wouldn't have learnt about mushrooms and plants over the past year nearly as well, if it wasn't for you all.
