Welcome to our October newsletter. I’m writing this in Vancouver, Canada, where we just finished running a phenol peel course for plastic surgeons. I was honoured to teach beside my colleagues, Dr. David Whiteman from Atlanta and my mentor and friend, Dr. Richard Bensimon, who first taught me how to do phenol peels. The course went well. We had twelve plastic surgeons enrolled and I was thrilled to share my 14 years of experience in phenol peels with my colleagues.
For October, we will be offering a promotion for patients looking for facial rejuvenation who think a phenol peel might be appropriate for them. We're happy to waive our usual consultation fee and I can see you and discuss whether it's appropriate for your care. Phenol peels are good for facial rejuvenation to reverse sun damage and tighten skin, but they're not appropriate for acne scars, so we don't do it for that indication.
Also In October, I'm going to Sault Ste. Marie for the week of October 7. During that week I'll be seeing cosmetic patients at our sister clinic - Laser Advantage. I'll also be doing a locum at the hospital there, doing some community service by helping out at the hospital for emergency treatments.
The last thing I want to talk about is the Weizmann Institute in Israel. As you may know, I'm a member of the Board of Directors for Weizmann Canada, which helps promote awareness and do fundraising for the Weizmann Institute. Once again, in the past few weeks, the Weizmann Institute in Israel has been ranked in the top ten global research facilities (Leiden Ranking) and I'm proud to support their efforts.
I did a summer science research project at the Weizmann Institute in 1992, just after finishing high school. That program, called the Bessie F. Lawrence Summer Science Program ( www.weizmann.c...) , is still running now and is accepting applications from students in Canada who are graduating high school and who would be interested in doing research next summer at the Weizmann Institute. If you're interested, please feel free to message me directly. I'd be thrilled to talk about that!
I want to wish you all a very happy fall and a happy October! Happy Halloween! I look forward to speaking to you again in November.
