Seeing this just makes me wonder how incredible Octopath Traveler would be as an animated show on Netflix or some other streaming site!

Honestly, I don’t think Octopath works as anything but a game. Though each character’s individual narrative is excellent, it’s honestly kind of impossible to tie them together cohesively. As a player you can at least suspend you disbelief as characters vanish from the party during cutscenes or people travel in rather roundabout routes to reach their destination, but as a viewer I’m not sure that would be possible.

@@GoldLight73 Fair Warning: Way too long comment, but I heavily geeked out at this possibility so I apologize in advance. I'll place my 2 cents and say that I believe you're underestimating the potential of this idea, as there are ways to go around these issues. Just make it a kind of episodical adventure with each character having a different narrative, and story arc and a main one in the background. How I would tie them would be depending on the length of the series, if we go with an anime style format, then we would have around 24 or 25 episodes. Knowing this, then we will do an introductory episode for each character (yes, a little long for introductions, but stay with me on this one) in a kind of miniseries format. It's important that you leave each episode in a hanging end, so that the viewer wishes to know what happened to the characters, after all introductions are done then you start to tie them, for this we need a side story in the background brewing in each introductory episode, but all the same as the other ones. My suggestion would be that each character is a god's champion without them knowing, chosen by each god to join the other ones and defeat the dark god galdea who will be the main villain. From then on, go and tie their stories slowly, with their objectives somewhat related to one another. Mayhaps Darius from Therion's story has the last dragon gem in order to sell it to Tressas main antagonist, or have the Ravus house be the next objective of the head of the crow which is Primrose's story. Some details may be different than in the game, but that's not an issue imo. Now, if we have 24 episodes, 8 of them being introductory, we still have 16 episodes, which would be 2 for each charater story arc, but let's face it, that isn't nearly enough. My main suggestion would be a 4 to 5 season series, which would be divided in sections to evolve each character's chapter (also serving as character arcs, I must add), having some episodes here and there to further develop their relationships with one another, if you feel like having 8 characters every episode would be tiring, then you could do so in a way that when they arrive to town, the party splits up in 2 groups, with one of them going to do other tasks such as a bounty for money, going to scout the terrain or some other stuff. So, let's say we have 5 seasons, the first half of the number 1 being introductory and to help settle what will be the main story regarding the 8 characters. The second half being part of their character arcs, same format as the second half will go with all but the last season, where the first half will be to bring closure to all their arcs, fully develop their relationships and maybe throw the shippers a bone and confirm one or two romantic couples (like maybe cyrus and primrose or therion and ophilia, idk nor care). The second half of the last season however, will be the grand finale, after the reveal of the real threat of the dark god and their fate as the campions of the gods to defeat it. The final battle being this grand spectacle of the 8 heroes using their abilities and teamwork to the fullest to defeat the greatest threat of them all in their whole journey. Then do a bonus episode with an epilogue of our heroes, what happened to them after achieving victory. Don't know about you, but I would binge watch the shit out this, since I'm a sucker for this kind of stories.

Thank you very much for this, really thank you. Since I played this marvel of game I fell totally in love with it, to the point of wanting to acquire all kinds of existing merchandising, and to the point of wanting to see those incredible eight animated stories, because I really feel that this game has the potential to make a good animation, (that and I always want animation of all the books and video games that I adore). So really, thank you very much, it would be great if you did a lot more animations, but I am aware that doing something like that takes a lot of effort, a lot of work and a lot of time. So for now I will watch this video a million times, hoping to satisfy the desire that an anime of this can be real.
