Idk, I'm perfectly fine with the quest, you can play games like beat saber, journey of the gods, pistolwhip, etc. Ik the psvr can probably play most of the same ones(maybe) but I'm just saying, psvr also does have some exclusives, like Tetris effect(it's amazing) I have never had a problem with the quest's graphics. He was just showing low graphic games in the video, and for some reason I find it that when I watch a video of beat saber quest gameplay, the colors are darker, idk. But really the quest is a great headset, and did ya wanna play pcvr games, you can just hook up the quest with a usb 3.0 to usb type c connector, so in my opinion, quest is better.

PSVR Owner - Getting the quest this weekend. PSVR for me was far more appealing compared to other VR systems in terms of cost and games available. But with the quest being wireless and far more portable this is a game changer for the VR world. Despite that I will still be keeping the PSVR for its exclusive games such as Firewall.

Thomas if portability is your thing then yes absolutely. Unfortunately for me I own almost every game the quest offers rite now on my psvr. IF the quest had better processing power and the ability to have larger games then I would agree. Unfortunately I’m not to confident in what’s to come considering they had to take a lot out of moss, apex construct, and the wizards to get them to run on the quest. :/ I believed Zuckerberg when he said in his presentation that quest will run rift quality games. Not exactly accurate...

Justin Perrotta At this point for me I’m all for the Quest. I haven’t touched my PSVR since and am actually selling it now. The portability and ease of use/simplicity has won me over. I am going to miss all the games I had on the PSVR, but the Quest does well enough and the immersion easily makes up for the graphic downgrade. Another big plus is that my wife, friends, and family can start and work the Quest with ease. Every time I brought the PSVR to show they were turned off by all the cords and having to be front of the camera the whole time.

Fair enough. Just for me I’m already bored with the current quest library. And the future doesn’t have any big games. Even Sierento is being super super watered down for the quest. I’m disappointed. If only it had more power it would be my go to.

Technically you actually can play Skyrim with Oculus Quest, however you cannot play Skyrim with VR with the Quest. There is a Quest app that lets you stream a computer screen into a VR environment on your Quest, and control your PC with Quest controllers. You can also get a blutooth capable xbox one controller and connect it to your Quest so you can play PC games with controller from the Quest. However, it's only streaming your PC screen, you wont be able to stream VR games or anything to Quest. Just 2D PC content.

imo PSVR has always been the best VR experience day 1. I remember trying both the PSVR and HTC Vive at GameStop back to back within the same day. Both were fun in their respective rights but PSVR had and still has more to offer. Though Oculus looks to be taking a step further, I see no reason after viewing this video to even buy a Quest. Though the Move controllers seem to be outdated.....PSVR still delivers the best overall experience for both users standing and sitting and still offers a more real feel FPS experience with the Aim Controller. Also price point is better for he PSVR and so are the games! PSVR for the win...Venture on Quest!

No mention that psvr has full rgb sub pixel support which is why the screen door effect is next to invisible. Basically this translates to 3 sub pixels for every pixel actually giving the psvr headset a resolution of 1920x3x1080 which is higher than the quest in actual pixel amounts. The limiting power here is from the ps4 itself which can only really use this resolution on close up images, ie gt sport the car interiors which anyone will tell you are among the best visuals in vr. Once the ps5 is launched this graphical fidelity will be able to be pushed out further making psvr in a class of its own. The main reason I didn't bother with the quest.

A lot of people say too not get too happy with Quest or hyped due to being let down because it can be a downgrade from the headset you have. That may be the case for Rift/Vive users, but for PSVR and below it is a huge step up. Graphics may suffer, but they will not be really crappy or terrible as some people predict and at the end of the day it is a totally different experience when you are in the game. I personally have problems with the tracking despite having the camera well above me at an angle, even when I have the lights off. There are times in Rec Room where the tracking is just crap, 90 percent of the times when I boot up a game I have to switch controllers because they are in the wrong hands and change depending on the game, and there are times when there are just hiccups in the tracking that can make or break your experience. Combine that with having to set everything up and worrying about the length you will be playing then trying to see if it is worth it makes the Quest that much more special. The Quest not only brings a new type of tracking to PSVR only owners, specially since I really wanted to try the tracking Rift has and I do not have the money or space for it, but it also brings titles that would never see the light of day on the PSVR such as VRChat and Vader The Immortal. To a Rift or Vive user it may be more of a downgrade just to be able to play true standalone wireless VR, but to someone with PSVR, Gear VR, GO, or no headset, it is an amazing step into something new.
@evolicious
@evolicious 5 жыл бұрын
I got to try the Quest at OC5, the graphics are definitely not as bad as people are predicting, you are correct. However, it's purely moronic to compare the Quest to PCVR. It's not even the same experience. I had high expectations becasue I know no one has ever utilized the full power of the recent SD SOCs in recent years, but holy shit, the Quest is black magic. I went immediately to a Rift booth to compare and it's a noticeable difference but a difference you can live with for the main feature of pick-up-and-play and mobility. Quest is pretty must the first VR console (other standalone kits use google daydream and just use the android market and are more related to oculus go with 6dof). Everyone should buy a Quest if they want VR to succeed.

Now, now, don’t be too hasty in your dismissal. I’ll have you know I’ve been playing Steam VR games like Skyrim and Blade and Sorcery on my Quest through ALVR. It works surprisingly well, especially Skyrim which requires less precise tracking. The ALVR dev has really been working hard and pushing out new builds, to the point where I’m legitimately playing games at a high fidelity over 5 GHz wifi at around 60 ms latency. And the supersampling options work wonders as long as your PC is good enough. Honestly, it kinda looks better on the Quest because of its superior screens. Packet loss is ALVRs only real issue right now and even that isn’t all that bothersome.

4:50 _Higher resolution means more difficult rendering..._ A note on this: If you render the graphics at a higher resolution, then yes, framerate should suffer... But if we use a 2d video as an example: If we play a 360p video (low res) on a 1080p monitor, there is no "extra rendering" occurring to get the low res displayed on the higher res display... So if you render the game at say 1080p or even 720p on a quest, the framerate can be high, and you still get the lowered screen door effect due to the high res display... The lessened screen door is a benefit of the high res display even if higher res rendering is not achieved. Not really difficult to understand, but difficult to convey my meaning.

Coming from a lifetime of console gaming I get a little frustrated when I spend $15+ on a game that only lasts an hour or so. That being said, I have a PS4 but never made the jump to VR with it due to the move controllers and the cable/set-up requirements. I have a friend who has a Rift but I never wanted one due to the computer requirements and cable set-up. I hate messing with all that stuff! So far as I'm concerned the Quest is fantastic! Simple set up, no cables, awesome (if short) games. I have no regrets about buying it!

The oculus quest also runs on a rechargeable battery, so you are limited by that, though I personally need a break from VR about 2 hours into playing anyways. Lol Just got the PS VR in 2019 because of the price tag, it took so long. I am content. I could have got the quest, cause after I got the Sony Gold headphones, it would have actually been less money, but I got the PSVR for power, graphics, and no battery limitation and great support by Sony. I love it. The cords are the only draw back, but they are long and the games I play in VR don’t require a ton of full body movement. It is amazing!!!

I finally got both the PSVR and the QUEST. I think this video covers the differences perfectly. The biggest differences for me are the following: resolution and graphical ability of the PSVR is better, but the ability to untether yourself and take the QUEST everywhere is currently worth the sacrifice. Beat Saber alone is better on the QUEST simply because you have the freedom to move and the 'Guardian System' helps keep you from elbowing a wall or knocking over a lamp. Sit down vr gaming? PSVR / Get up and engage? QUEST.

I have both and I use both. The wireless feature and mapping of your room is amazing and it doesn't have to be square. In fact I map out my whole apartment including hallway and kitchen (U-shape) allowing me to physically walk to the back of my ship in Vader Imortal. When I am wandering on the ledge outside Vader Castle, I can physically walk to the edge of the ledge and look down. I could be all the way down my apartment hallway doing this. The quest also allows you to stream 3d movies and just movies via Skybox from your local NAS. You can watch netflix or movies from you skybox while lying in bed facing up to the ceiling. I'm not sure if the higher resolution of the quest is used with skybox for movies but it is extremely clear. Also know that FB is pushing hard to port the better games and apps from Oculus Rift to the Quest like Robo Recal, virtual desktop pc giving you a large monitor or even multiple monitors. Creed rise to glory is a much better experience on the Quest as you can walk around and fight in any direction. Forget about having to face frontwards as in PS4, with the Quest you just box in any direction. Angry Birds, instead of teleporting, you can just walk over to the new location or walk around to get a better angle. The best part of Oculus Quest is the portability and you can take the Quest anywhere. Add some more velcro to the top of the headset and some velcro to a battery pack, you can charge your Oculus Quest while playing and have almost unlimited power by having multiple battery packs to charge your Quest. My PSVR is used for games like Ace Combat 7, Eve Valkyrie, End Spce, star blood Arena, ultrawings with my Thrustmaster Hotas. Games like Gran Turismo, Driveclub VR, Dirt Rally VR, Trackmania Turbo all uses my Thrustmaster T300RS GT steering wheel. In fact I have a GT Omega ART Cockpit with casters that I wheel in front of my TV to play any racing game. The power of my PS4 Pro is that I have non VR games that I can play in 4k HDR which is completely amazing and lifelike. There are no comparing between the PSVR and the Quest but they work perfectly in my home for different VR needs. Get both if you can.

As mentioned above that there are no comparison between PSVR and Quest; each holds its own merits. PSVR has a large number of killer games like the most recent Borderlands 2 VR, No Man's sky, Blood & Truth and much more. In fact one of the most thrilling aspect of PSVR is that you can play all the Sony games in your headset making almost most games almost VR-like. If you play Grip Combat Racing, a PS4 game, in your VR headset it immerses you with an almost 180 field of view. You can play every single PS4 game in your VR headset making every first person view game into a VR experience. On the other hand games like Robo Recall, Beat Saber, Creed, Moss, Sports Scramble, Dance Central, Superhot and my most recent purchase Red-Matter, I would rather play all these games on the Oculus Quest headset because of the Wireless-Room Scale tracking where I can physically walk/dance/shoot in the whole living room completely unencumbered by wires. If you must get only one, go for the Quest and get the Quest case to take your Quest to your friends house. If you already have a PS4, get the PS-VR headset to compliment all your games; nothing like playing all your PS4 games on a 100 feet screen.

You are greatly overstating the effect of refresh rate on motion sickness. Refresh rate is only one of the factors causing the feeling of motion sickness. There have been a lot of research and advancement in this area since the release of the PSVR. All reports about the Quest seem to say that motion sickness isn't an issue.
@DBZHGWgamer
@DBZHGWgamer 5 жыл бұрын
Well, i know for a fact that's a lie. Motion sickness may be *less* of an issue on Quest than on PSVR, but people even get motion sickness with the best PC VR options available. The fact is, some people are just very prone to motion sickness when using VR. And i'm sure what specifically hurts/helps such people will vary to some degree. Until full dive tech is invented (if ever), motion sickness will always be a factor for some.
@OniMirage
@OniMirage 5 жыл бұрын
Motion sickness is tied to refresh rate and field of view. Done. Since they have roughly the exact same field of view the likelihood of someone getting sick on the quest vs the psvr is 40%. That means there is a 40% higher chance of motion sickness on the quest vs psvr by default. Math.
@DBZHGWgamer
@DBZHGWgamer 5 жыл бұрын
@@OniMirage Thats not how human senses work. Human senses are logrithmic, not linear. Cutting the amount of a stimulus by half does not cause ther perception of said stimulus or its effect on your mental state to be cut in half. Same goes for decreasing by a factor of 0.4. Thats not how motion sickness works, as motion sickness is caused by disagreement between your senses of wether or not/how fast you're moving. More specifically your semicircular canals and your eyes perceptions. Latency in detecting movement, which is clearly a much larger factor in the PSVR, would be very important to motion sickness. Lastly, that is also not how math works. The highest natrual frame rate PSVR can get is 90 fps. 72 is 80% of 90 fps, so it has 20% fewer frames. Most PSVR games actually only get 60 fps, and use reprojection to double the number of refreshes. However, this is *not* the same as having 120 fps, nor is it as smooth as 120 fps. It's also, according to most sources I've seen, not even as good as 90 fps. So yea, actual facts.

I would argue that the Quest's 72hz OLED will be fine for most people. Motion sickness has more to do with the smoothness of tracking and pixel persistence/switch times, when we're talking numbers this high. The LCD panel they used had to be high refresh, as anything less wouldn't have fast enough pixels for VR without motion blur. Pretty sure if LCDs from that year could do fast enough pixel switching/low persistence at a lower/cheaper refresh, they would have went with something a little lower refresh, but that's just what ended up working the best of their options, at the time. OLED screens tend to do low persistence a little better, since they can switch pixels off faster, and more black time is better than wrong/smearing image. So at the time LCD had to be higher refresh rate to compete with OLED, as far as I know. Guess that's not all that important, but I think even the Go's screen rivals the PSVR's screen, and that's just a newer LCD. OLED should be even better. I mean, lets look at the Oculus Go. It uses a refresh rate of 60hz for some things, and 72hz for others.. And for games that run at 72hz, I think they look better than some games on my Rift. I can notice when it drops to 60, so thankfully Quest shouldn't ever go that low.. But especially since we're talking about an OLED screen for Quest, 72hz will be fine for as many people as it is for a higher refresh. It'll look better than the Go's 72hz, and I don't think any PSVR users will complain, other than maybe library differences. lol Edit: Just a note, motion sickness is also commonly caused by a disconnect between the motion you're really experiencing, and the motion you see in VR. If a game moves you around, but you're standing stationary in the real world, it can make some people sick.

I had a PSVR for a few years now, but only used it three times, one of which was to see what Netflix is like on it. Other than that, it has mostly gathered dust due to the heavy amount of setup for one play session (which always has to be disassembled so my brother can have the PS4 back). Plus a few other reasons, but the effort to set up each time is by far the biggest. Meanwhile, the Quest I have used practically daily since I got it last week, and even if I were to shelve it I have already used it five times more. It doesn't have the biggest library (it's new, so to be expected) or best hardware, but all I have to do to set it up is move a chair out of the way and put it on. No hassle, no feeling too lazy to set it up, etc. Also helps that I'm more comfortable buying games online than I was when I got the PSVR, and that no one else uses my Quest. So yeah, fully on the quest Bandwagon.

One of the biggest problems about reviews is people don't talk to much about controllers. Controllers alone can be the biggest deciding factor. Games where you roam around can suck on PSvr due to the motion controllers not having joy sticks. Have good control in game is very important. So if these 2 are identical I would get the quest just because of the controls. The biggest thing is what games I can or can not play on both devices and could I play on the quest with a charging cable if battery is low if I want longer hours of game play.

In the end, it’s all about developers and how they eke out what they can from the chipset. I was reading about how the SUPERHOT devs ported SUPERHOT VR to the Quest, took it from something that would only run on 500W PC’s to a 4W mobile chipset. Restrictions in processing power tends to make developers get creative - and half the time, simpler graphics look better in VR anyway.

The future *I'd like to see for VR:* I'd like to see mobile VR be the norm. No cords to trip on, and the ability to take the device out of your house and show friends will make VR popular. IMO if the original VR devices were like the Quest, the platform would be more popular now, and more people would be open to spending a grand or two on hardware for a better experience once they are hooked on the platform.... I'd like to see these mobile VR devices *be the new platform,* make them work with the PC as well!!! If they include low latency wireless streaming from the PC, then you can get the full graphics and full access to the PC when you are at home. But if you want to leave the house, you still have the mobile platform. This system would be ideal for so many reasons: 1. The investment cost would be low, just pay for the mobile device and see if you like the platform; if you don't minimum cost, if you do, you already own a device capable of displaying PC graphics. In any case, minimum investment. 2. Maximum platform adoption. Since the cost barrier is low, more people will try the platform. Whether people stay on the low end device or upgrade later, more people enter the platform. 3. No risk investment. If you buy the entry level mobile headset, then like it and want to upgrade to PC graphics, you already own the display and only need to get the PC spec upgraded. So you can "test the waters" for cheap, then pay for the full version if you like it enough, and there is no penalty for this route. IMO the above model is the way forward for VR, and does the most to help build the platform and the market.

Have the quest for about a good month now. Whereas I got motion sick from the psvr, which I sold a couple years ago, I get practically no motion sickness with the quest. And most of the games in PSVR then were stationary. In the quest I'm playing full locomotion, without any issues... Even streaming pcVR, works great. The tracking of the psvr is subpar, and the drifting issues were disastrous..

There won’t be preorders. Tuesday is the release date time 90% sure. Quest demo units already shipped to Best Buy. And please common please you underestimate the quest and don’t even talk about half of all the features- like FREAKING Roomscale,no sorry not room scale WORLDSCALE up to 4,000 square feet of tracking, oculus touch controllers, and how graphics are meant to make games more immersive and there’s nothing more immersive than vr. So sacrificing graphics for WIRELESS unlimited play space is acceptable and awesome.

I think I’ll still go with psVR. Just because as of right now even though our movement is limited, I’m still happy with higher refresh rate and processing power. Although on psVR:next, I hope we can have that camera tracking the oculus does, and then to balance out the system on the head, maybe at the back have a memory pack and a processing pack so you might be able to disconnect the cords once fully charged and after downloading your game, you can start playing in full 360 for like a 2 hour time and then plug the headset into the ps5 to charge while playing.

i have the psvr and i think its great. the excess of cables and the camera area are limitants, but they can improve that just releasing new peripherals along with ps5, like wireless receptors and a new camera. the light tracking mechanism works pretty good and the Playstation exclusives are great! oculus quest presented us with the "final form" that Vr can achieve, completely wireless, but the smartphone hardware is a huge problem for me, it will loose a vast majority of next gen games. the best you can do now is just wait for some vr device just like oculus quest that can run something like stadia or home streaming for steam, if facebook can update quest in that direction it will be great!

Yeah man I own both and psvr is better. Quest would be if it had more processing power but it can’t handle big games. And the psvr games that are on the quest are watered down to fit. Psvr is the way to go for now. If only psvr had quest controllers.

I'm not an early adopter, typically, I usually wait till price drops. I've held back on getting a VR device. I loved the concept of the HTC vive when it first came out, but everything was too expensive, and it required setting up an entire room to be VR friendly, rather than making VR room friendly. I was tempted to get a O-go, but held back because it seemed like an improvement to it would be just around the corner. I think the Quest will be the first VR headset I actually try, although I'm debating on getting an S, or maybe I'll get both... I need to upgrade my graphics card before I get an S, and I would like to put in a SSD too for quicker loading times, if I do that that will make full use of my PC which is beastly compared to the gaming consoles, with the exception of the graphics card which has recently become dated. All together it's budget crunching the way an unexpected repair on the car would be. So, I'm less likely to get an S right away because of all the additional costs. If I get an Quest I can try VR at the low-graphics reduced fidelity, reduced selection of available games, but play it in multiple rooms, not just my gaming pc-room, and take it to friends and family houses, and hotels too, without changing anything. So, I'll get the quest first. Depending on how my income situation goes, I'm guess I'm in the market for both systems, especially if the gaming library or user account can be shared between them, and whether or not I can get prescription lenses into them the way you can other devices. I really don't want to wear my everyday glasses underneath VR goggles forever, I sometimes have to do that stuff for work related or active lifestyle situations, and it's always way more comfortable & functional just to have a prescription for whatever your required to wear rather than layering lenses. I will probably wait on getting a Quest until that's an option. The company that makes prescription vive lenses, say it's coming "SOON" but we'll see because I saw at least one review that suggested replacing the lenses would be difficult. Of course, maybe that was just a press-demo version.

I bought got back into gaming (PS4 Pro) solely for PSVR when it launched. Had an original xbox and Wii as my last consoles prior. I'm 100% getting the Quest on launch day. My plan is to stick to whatever mobile Oculus is the best in class and also upgrade to the PSVR2/PS5 when those are available. I wasn't too impressed with the original Vive that a coworker brought over and also don't want to drop the coin on a VR gaming computer. The Valve Index sounds cool, but again on the VR comp thing and I also feel like requiring base stations is taking a step backward.

So for example you pick up a used ps vr set (make sure you try it first to see if the thing is working well and no damage to lens) then head over to the ps store and buy a shit load of games that YOU want to play. We decided to train with VR and have fun. So a lot of action happens when we play. That's why we chose PSVR. Because Playstation has the only headset that allows us and especially me to give everything physically free. I've tried other headsets (vive, valve index), but can't get them to sit firmly or comfortably on my head. after 20-30 minutes, either my nose or my cheeks hurt because there's a lot of weight there. I don't have this problem at all with PSVR. And that's the most important thing that makes the game fun. Because no graphics or tracking etc. would be worth a lot of money to me if I could only play for such a limited time. 1 hour training at BOX VR? impossible. . . So I accept that I have less (no PowerBeatsVR) and less (Beat Saber) games, but an equipment that makes me feel free and comfortable. So this is again a complaint that Playstation should care more about these rhythm games! I wish for a wireless headset sometime. . . but only if it doesn't hurt. . . and I don't mean the price.

I agree 100% with you here. I didn't think the Quest's weight would bother me as bad as it does but for me personally the headset hurts my cheeks and I get a blurred image no matter how much adjusting I've tried. Anytime I move my cheeks it shifts the entire headset and it drives me crazy. I played on one with a counterweight and it did help a great deal but it still doesn't breath like the PSVR. My 30 minute demo with the Quest honestly left me with even better appreciation for my PSVR. I don't think the difference in comfort can be overstated here. The Quest with no counterweight is completely unplayable for me.

So the better tracking of Oculus quest is enough for me to sell PSVR and buy the Quest, there is no need to own both if I pretty much play only Beat Saber and very rarely try some other experiences. Now even better selling point would be if somehow it would be possible to implement beat saber mods and custom maps into Quest, then it would be an absolute no brainer for 400 bucks.
