My review on the Oculus Rift S VR HMD. This is by far the best experience for simulator racing and drifting. Don't worry about triple monitors. This is better!

If you have content manager. You can enable 8x msaa experimental and the image sharpens quite a bit. Also in assetto corsa you can set pixels per display to 1.5, that seems to be the sweet spot with no jitter. You can further sharpen the image by going into Oculus debug menu and bumping the aliasing to about 1.2. I am on 2080ti 9700k and maintain the 80fps with shader mods on.

Do you experience any stutters now? My vive ran 90fps with no stutters at all but my rift s has terrible performance. I've got an rtx 2080 super. It shouldn't be an issue.

I got motion sickness the first time too, but after taking it off and trying again a few times, I got rid of it entirely. Its definitely a "getting used to" progress

for some weird reason when i launch assetto corsa, the steam vr menu will just say "up next" or "launching" when the game is running on the desktop.... and even when i go thru the menus on my desktop and get a race started, I can't get the actual racing part of the game to come up in full vr :(

You'll need a better GPU to run vr. Minimum 1080ti but ideally 3080 or above for best frame rate and experience.

When I try to load it it just loads for a few seconds than goes back to home

Sounds like you need to load the latest drivers on your rift or graphics card.

1070ti will cope ok. You'll have to run lowish graphics settings to make it run nice but it'll be ok.

Yeah the valve index is the best one but also comes at a premium price.

what frame rates are you running and at what quality? I’m thinking of putting my 2070 through this and I’m assuming the 2070 is just slightly better if not the same

@@gdontgotit I am using a Rift s which is 1280 x 1440 pixels per eye and an 80Hz refresh rate. Using content manager for AC and turning off a few shadow details i get 90fps 88fps average which is over the refresh rate so happy days. I have a i7 9700k running at 4.8GHZ and a GTX1080 i do use MSI afterburner which runs at 2100Mhz max boost clock and 5100Mhz memory clock. I am sure your 2070 would do better along as your processor is a Ryzen 5 3600 or above id say. Hope this helps.

Haha yes well low budget for vr. Unfortunately the PC itself needs to be pretty good to run vr. Some money can be saved in the headset itself.

You'll need the same GPU to power triple monitors anyway. So either way he'd be disappointed.

@@koreprod5062 yeah it can but at the cost of lower graphics quality. 1080ti's are somewhat cheap now being "old tech" so they're a good buy.
