The Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. is a major private railway company based in Tokyo, Japan.
Its railway network in the western suburbs of Tokyo consists of 3 lines with a total lenght 120 km. It is well known for its luxury "Romancecar" limited express services that need an additional charge to use. The holding company Odakyu Group has also operations in real estate, finance, personal storage, travel sales, and bus service.
The Odawara Line forms the main trunk line that extends from Shinjuku in Tokyo to Odawara in the Kanagawa prefecture. It is a very busy commuter line with an incredible daily ridership of almost 1,5 million users.
At Shin-Yurigaoka the Tama Line from Karakida and Tama-Center connects to the main line, while the Enoshima Line branches off at Sagami-Ono. Both lines have through running trains to the Odawara Line.
At Yoyogi-Uehara there are direct through services to the Chiyoda subway line to central Tokyo and furher to Toride on the JR Joban Line. Odawara, the western terminus, is the gate to the Izu-Hakone-National Park. Some limited express trains run through to Hakone-Yumoto on the Hakone-Tozan Railway, a subsidiary company of Odakyu.
Train services are pretty various. Local trains are stopping at all stations. Section Semi Express and Semi-Express services are skipping some stations in Tokyo and calling at all stations in the outer suburbs. Express and Rapid Express trains have only a small number of stops, although they are calling at all stations between Hon-Atsugi and Shin-Matsuda in the outer suburbs. Tama Express trains have the same stopping patterns as with Express trains with the execption that all trains are running through to the Chiyoda and Joban Lines. Limited Express trains have even less stops and provide fast and comfortable services on the most important lines.
The Odawara Line might be common to some simulator railfans, as it was included in Microsoft Trainsimulator in 2001.

Through services are impossible, Odakyu's gauge: 1067mm, Keio Main Lines: 1372mm. It is the Keio Sagamihara Line, it parallels the Odakyu Tama Line for about 3km. Please have a look at my little schematic map at the beginning of the video - it shows the possible transfers to other lines in the area.

Right, when the Inokashira Line opened in 1933 it was a part of Odakyu Group and became a part of Keio after WW2. The 1067mm gauge of the "Odakyu era" remained though.^^

Oh my god..... First of all, thank you for this great video Amin. It was very emotional for me to watch. I know it sounds like a joke, but I used Odakyu line for more than two years before moving to my current location, and I have so many good memories there, so i kinda miss it, even my new place is better. I like those friendly little towns along Odakyu line, Shimokita, Seijyugakuenmae, Noborito, Mukogaoka and Machida. "Thanks to you", i need to go on a sunday-trip into "Kanagawa land" sometime soon. Thanks for an excellent video, very enjoyable and great work. Thomas

Hi Thomas! :) It has been a long time again, sorry for being less active in the last weeks and months... I think I can understand your 'emotional' reaction. Two weeks ago our old suburban trains ("ET 420" series) have been taken out of service. I took this train since I was a little child. Since I can remember these trains were always there. Now it is a little bit like a 'shock', "so much time has passed already...". It hurts slightly - not because of the trains are going to be scrapped, but because of all these memories I connect to them. I just felt as a little part of me has been taken away. Time is running so fast and erverything changes, sometimes it's really scary when I think about it. Sorry for that much trivial text, anyway I'm glad you like it and that it could awake some memories. ;D I'm looking forward to any "Kanagawa"-features, I'll try to have a look on YT and specially on your channel more frequently again.

Unfortunately I don't have that many videos of the Kintetsu Railway. When I was in Japan I only used the Kintetsu Lines for my trip to Nara when I was in the Kansai region for two days. I hope to finish one last video about Japan in the next weeks (Kyoto and Nara). It seems like I have to visit Japan again soon ;)

Yes, most of the eastern sections have been quadrupled to increase the line's capacity a few years ago. Some stations have been rebuilt underground.

:) Amin

+Mohamad Dikshie fauzie Of course, you're right, thank you! I haven't noticed it at all in this long time :D (Sorry for asking, but you don't coincidentally come from North Africa, don't you? Because I'm a part-time Tunisian and we use the name Fauzi quite often, so I'm just curious to know, if there are any compatriots in Japan ;D)
